Saying that the Start button doesn't do "donkey shit" in Ghostbusters II is incorrect. If you pressed it a ghost trap would appear under your feet. This would suck up the ghosts within the area where the trap was. You could then kick it to either side of the screen.
(If your character stayed under it he would get stunned.)
