FFXI started going downhill with Treasures of Aht Urghan and has gotten progressively worse.
Wings of the Goddess was the last straw for me. $30 for two half-finished jobs, a half-assed campaign, and four missions I finished in a night was a giant rip-off.
Pre-Treasures it was a fun game and I loved it but after Treasures came in and turned anyone with the word Mage in their job's title into a Haste whore or negated their need to exist totally I got pissed.
As a White Mage I hated going from being a contributing member to the party to spending hours on end casting Haste on four Warrior/Ninja's and the occasional Regen on our Bard.
I was told that Wings would return FFXI to its former glory but all that rushed out, quarter-assed, broken-as-hell expansion did was make my wallet $30 lighter.
SE started relying heavily on bi-tri monthly version updates to fill in the gaps of their expansion packs. But by the time WotG came around, they were relying so much on it that it was basically $5 worth of content when you first purchased it.
White mage is a calling, honestly. I hated the job. I found it incredibly boring. I was a high level red mage, among other jobs, so I know how you feel. Being forced to sit there and do nothing but cast refresh and haste over and over was a pain. And then I was basically paired up with lazy white mage/black mages all the time that forced me to cure, haste, refresh, buff, magic burst, enfeeb, debuff, and still have enough MP left over when we were done so we could start killing again.
Although, honestly, if SE hadn't falsely banned me, I'd probably still be playing. Oh well...At least I got a good five years out of it.

and as for mega man 9... i've defeated robot masters with only the mega buster in the past,(i think once for mega man X) so that one just might be possible

megaman achievements seem fair, I have done the megabuster and no enemy killing (speed run) thing since megaman 2, but a no dying one seem tough, no for the enemies but for the parts on the game with disappearing platforms and needle floors.

Well for starters I would probably rec... wait a minute, you've never played the most popular RPG series on earth? FF has dominated for over 2 decades! I've liked every FF I have played except maybe VIII. I would recommend VII for starters.
I used to know someone who played FFXI to that extent. Wonder if he was one of the ones who took part in that event. :) I can imagine him getting so pissed haha.
