I'm a network admin and I get paid to play wow all day at work. Well they dont know but the only time I have work to do is when something breaks, like once a week. Ah, the sweet life. :)

You can't get a good paying job ANYWHERE without at least completing grade 12. it wouldnt be for the rest of his life, maybe a year or 2 until guitar hero and rockband finally get replaced by the next big franchise, kinda like counterstrike, there used to be fairly large publicised events for its tournaments, but i havnt heard of it in quite some time, in the coming years you might be able to make a living being a cyber athlete more readily if videogames finally really take off as a "sport" *prays it will be soon* but if they do u will prolly need to be good at a large variety like the Ironman, not just a plastic guitar

I've been jaded to professional gaming thanks to the "friendly" folks that play Super Smash Bros. Brawl for a living. To allow this kid to drop out of high school and pursue a career playing Guitar Hero requires money and stupidity in equally large amounts. The kid had better be damn good or he's going to Wal-Mart like Destin predicts. I still wish him luck, though; I heard Wal-Mart isn't a good place to work.

That's pretty stupid. First of all, Guitar Hero isn't going to be around forever. If he was going to be a pro at shooters, then that'd be ever so slightly better, but what happens when Guitar Hero doesn't exist anymore?
Secondly, does he really need to spend ever waking moment playing it? He could at least go to school and play GH competitively, perhaps missing a day or two because of a tourney. Eventually, won't he get sick of it? I mean, even with the 4 Guitar Hero games and Rock Band, that can't be much more than 350 songs. Eventually, I'd get sick of it.
Still, I wish him luck, but I think that's horribly moronic of his parents >.> (I'm 14, BTW)

I give guitar hero another 10 years at most before it fades into our memories and AVGN starts to review the thing. No game series runs it's course that long and eventually they won't make more games, and then where will this kid be? With no other ambitions being cultivated at an actual school, he's more or less setting himself up for failure, 100% guaranteed.
I hope someone does a follow up on this story 10, 15 years down the road so we can see what happens to this kid.

I got the Force Unleashed graphic novel (the official novel comes out tomorrow) and it is AMAZING!
It makes up for the Clone Wars cutting out many of the good parts and focusing on the kidsy appeal.
