Wow, you must really want KI. I played it a little as a kid on the SNES but never got into it. Seems silly Rare wouldn't make a game that could make them a lot of money. But then again, it might not because it really is a game for die-hard fans.
Also, Capcom may produce great updates to their franchises but then they also are known to run things into the ground. For every good mega man game there are 10 shitty ones (Starforce or whatever its called). Not to mention the 8,827,383 x 10^19 releases of SF2.

Without trying to come across as biased, I think that's a bit harsh. I do agree that seeing another Killer Instinct would be freakin' amazing, but I can see where they're coming from when they say that they don't just want to make a game for the sake of doing so, while not adding anything new to the genre.
They had the same problem with Banjo for awhile. They did work on a third installment for a while, but scrapped it simply because it seemed like more of the same. Therefore, they waited until the time was right, and came up with Nuts and Bolts. Now, while I'm not saying that the game will be a revolutionary title, it does look like they're doing something new. I sure as hell haven't seen another platformer take this approach. As for not paying attention to their fans, if you go around to sites such as RareWitchProject,
you'll see that they really do interact with them. Maybe not quite on the level of Bungie, but certainly more than other developers. Again, I'm not trying to come across as biased, given the username that I have, but I really feel that Rare has a great amount of appreciation for their fans, and they're not just out to disappoint their fans. Indeed, I was not much a fan of Perfect Dark Zero at all, and thought that that was a pretty big mistake on both their part and Microsofts. The game simply needed a better script, for one, and much more development time.
Again, though, as much as I'd love to see another Killer Instinct, I really don't think that their response to making an another one was an "intentional" slap in the face to fans. ;) So, while I'm probably just going to be called a fanboy for saying this, I can see where they're coming from. And yeah, maybe I'm just not looking in the right places, but from the Rare fan sites that I do go to, there hasn't really been this "huge" demand for another Killer Instinct, and while I do think it would be cool to see another, the news that there won't be one any time soon really isn't that big of a deal to me, personally.

Thats bullshit. They've been making games for the sake of making them forever, otherwise we wouldn't be seeing the 5th Banjoo Kazooie, 2nd Viva Pinata, and the 2nd Perfect Dark game. If they were going to do something truly revolutionary, they would create a new IP, and not hide behind this veil of "we dont make games just to make them." It's a blatant lie. They don't care about their fans, they care about their pocket books, and soon their going to realize that companies who make GOOD games that their fans want, get the big paycheck. Companies who tell their fans they're stupid for wanting a favorite franchise revitalized get exactly what they deserve. Bad reviews, and low sales.
As for you talking about how they interact with their fans, thats great, but the guys who control the money don't care. They've ditched Donkey Kong Country (another of my favorites), made a patheticly average Starfox game on the Gamecube, ditched Battletoads (which would be another amazing franchise to revive), and either wont or cant release a Goldeneye port to the 360. With studios like Ensemble being shut down, and Rare's obvious inability to make the jump to next gen I have to wonder...was Ensemble the right choice, or should Microsoft have looked a little closer to home?

For one, I don't seem to recall their games getting bad reviews, Destin, save for Grabbed by the Ghoulies (which I personally liked), and a few for PDZ (I think that the good reception that it did get was simply because it was a launch title). Viva Pinata, although it didn't sell too well (as is the case with most of their games nowadays, as you said), was widely received as a return to form from Rare. So, it only made sense to do a sequel, which has currently been getting some fine scores, as well, and fans of the original seem to be lovin' it. Now, again, I will agree with you that Perfect Dark Zero was a huge mistake. It was outdated, with horrible character design, a lame story, and overall, it doesn't stand a chance against something like Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3.
Also, the Donkey Kong Country franchise belongs to Nintendo, though I suppose that they could just make a DS game, as they are still able to do that. And I really enjoyed Star Fox Adventures. Yeah, I didn't enjoy it as much as Star Fox 64, but I thought it was a nice take on the series. As for Goldeneye, they had intended on releasing the game on the XBLA (there were even some screenshots released for it awhile back), but the fact that it wasn't released was Nintendo's doing, according to most sources.
So, yes, I can see where you're coming from Destin, especially in regards to Perfect Dark Zero, but I'm just trying to look at this from their perspective as well. However, I'm a little confused when you say that they should try something completely revolutionary by making a new IP, and then going on to say that they should revive their old franchises. Now, to be fair, a game doesn't have to revolutionary to be good. And maybe I'm just not looking in the right places, as I've said before, but from what I've seen, there really hasn't been a tremendous outcry for a new KI game. I'm not saying that there isn't anybody asking for another. Clearly there are. But it seems to be a minority, as Rare said. There seem to have been more of one for Banjo-Kazooie, which they have finally gotten around to. And it's not as if they have to revive all of their old franchises. Unlike other developers, Rare seems to have the right balance of old and new. So, rather than being a problem with simply listening to the fans, to me, this just comes down to whether you or I think that their games suck or not. And with that said, I do respect your opinion, Destin. I'm not saying "OMG DONT BASH RAR. U DUN KNO WUT UR TALKIN BOUT" You don't have to enjoy their games, obviously, and call me a fanboy if you want, but I disagree with the idea that they don't care about their fans. ;)

On DB ds game, almost all games based on Movies/cartoon/show are really very bad, and for dragon ball its been hard because they have been trying to extend its franchise life too long(over 15 years and having atari as its developer doesn't help either). But this one seems to be doing huge in japan, its the first game in a long time that its been developed entirely in japan(atari will just be the publisher here) and its finally an adveture game, I just hope they don't censor/dub/translate as the American publishers use to do or it will surely suck balls.
And Im already playing kirby... this year has showed that retro gaming is the way of the future.
