Yeah, it seems close, very close to that word. However, that just not 100% Nintendo's fault. Remember, it's from a Japanesse company, so they don't know anything about racial slurs that has been establish here in the US. So they are not enough to be aware about it...still, I can only imagine the complete morons bitching without rethinking.

Japan knows about our racial slurs just like we know about their's. In Japan if you put up what we would think are two peace signs it is a racial slur against Koreans. You got to be aware of this stuff in today's world especially if you are doing international business. I'm not suprised that this happened though just play a few games of Halo3 on XBL and listen to all the dumbass comments you will hear on there. Most of the time the the racist remarks sound like it's comming from people with retardation.
Can't wait for the new Riddick... Butcher Bay was kick ass. Don't need another movie though.

It's hard no know things concretely about a culture. To people of different backgrounds, the little accents that were included on the word make it a totally different word. They'll have the "oh yeah you're right!" reaction when you tell them but won't notice otherwise.
Also, a person may know something is a bad or taboo in another culture, but they don't have a feeling for _how_ taboo it is. If you look up a swear word in a foreign language and say it, the mental impact isn't the same as swearing in your own language.
Having said all of that, Nintendo has a branch called Nintendo of America that is supposed to be intermediating and handling little things like these. Someone wasn't doing their job.

That's not the only racist thing Nintendo did I heard that in Nintendogs when a white puppy finds something it says he found it but if a black puppy finds something it says he swiped it.
I read the article, wasn't Nintendo's fault...entirely (Shouldn't someone have playtested the copies that were sent out?). It seems like just an unfortunate oversight. It's not like it was programmed into the game. Still somehow I can't help but chant...NINTENDO IS RACIST!!!!
