Legend of Zelda Commentary Part 1

Everyone remembers the Super Mario Bros Super Show but some people forget the extra special Zelda cartoons that were on Fridays. So let's all remember it together as Ben, Jose and myself take you through the first episode.

lol

I used to watch that...always thought mario was creepy

Awesome.

Being waiting for a new commentary for a while now...

dude commentary rules!!!!

dude commentary rules!!!!

I 2nd that!

Heck yea keep it coming!

Yay, Zelda!

As a big fan of this show...I remember getting up at 6 in the morning to watch this before I learned how to use the VCR - yes, this is what made me go and learn how to use the VCR when I was a little kid, I had a lot of fun watching this.

I always though it was a fairly smartly made show where there's reasons for most things, and it's not completely convenient (like how Link and Zelda didn't land right on Gannon when they catapulted themselves).

As based on what was out at the time, it didn't contradict any of the games. Link's personality wasn't defined in the first two games very much, and the yellow Triforce was the Triforce of Courage that Link got in the first game, the Triforces of Power and Wisdom hadn't been shown then. And it becomes gold when all 3 are put together.

Oh, and as to why Gannon didn't just tteleport himself and his Stalfos when he got the Triforce of Wisdom, it's noted at some point in one of the episodes that Gannon's powers are severely weakened when he's on the surface, which is also why he could only teleport himself up to the exit when leaving the Underworld.

I'm looking forward to seeing more commentary on this!

(Edit: Yes, I registered just to post this after literally years of lurking.)

I loved this cartoon. Was

I loved this cartoon. Was truly greatness as was the Super Mario Bros SuperShow in general. It'd be so awesome if Link did have his personality like this in a Zelda game... Well I'd like it, though it'd probably give some people a heart attack.
Link's hair was actually brown back then in all the official art work and such they just decided to make him go blond later on... much like the reverse now of Zelda. So they swapped hair colours! Isn't that interesting!? No... probably not but I typed it anyway.

I'm a man I'm Link I'm 40.

I'm a man I'm Link I'm 40. Sweet reference I LMAO

agreed

all we needed were a few more ranting coach quotes and it would have been perfect

"we couldn’t do Diddly-Poo."

or "PLAYOFFS?!"

Captain N Commentary?

Its all cool that you guys are doing commentary for Zelda, but what ever happened to the Captain N the Game Master Commentary. I remember like a couple months ago when Craig did commentary for the first episode. What ever happened to that?

I actually have it saved on

I actually have it saved on my pc if you want it Ill send it too you trailerboy415@yahoo.com

Best commentary so far.

So far this is the best commentary I have seen, and I've seen the Double Dragon and Wizard one.

lol

The kiss scene was epic. I lol'd when Craig said "Boner".

I liked

I liked it when Craig made the common mistake of calling dic, dick.

Agahnim doesn't revive Ganon

Note: Agahnim doesn't revive Ganon. He helps Ganon by opening the pathway between Hyrule and the 'Golden Land'.
So he's like Ganon's second in command, or something.

Um...

Agahnim WAS ganon!

http://tn3-2.deviantart.com/fs31/300W/i/2008/209/1/5/old_title_page_by_A...

Exactly.

Yep, Agahnim was just a fake cover for Ganondorf to help him gain the trust of the king, by "helping" him deal with the evil coming from the golden land.

LOVED this alot, I enjoyed this show even though it was a little cheesy and was sadly short. I look forward to more!

Wrong.

Agahnim was a separate entity altogether. It's not 100% clear if he was possessed by Ganon the same way Zant was or if he was operating under his own ideals, but it was NOT Ganon as at the time, he was imprisoned in the Dark World and could not get out, which is why he needed someone else to open the route.

You've all been EDU-PWNED.

What a show that was...

I remember watching that back in the day, while I at my Zelda cereal. Oh yes.

The Link from the cartoon had the personality of a teenage Han Solo.....always whining, and trying to get some from the princess, but acting too-cool-for-school about it. Han Solo is a much better character though, no doubt.

I like how right after Craig finishes telling us that the show aired around the time of the second Zelda game (which was 1989)....and then he asks Ben if he watched the show back when it was on TV. Was Ben even born at that point?

Great Observation!

That made me LOL! If he was then he would have been in infancy atleast! Silly craig... Great video and what a sweet show. I love these commentary's!

Chuck Norris made the greatest song ever made, he also made a tribute to it before Tenacious-D.

I don't think Ben is that young

The show was 19 years ago.
I don't know how old Ben is but he could be, lets say, 25 by his looks, so that means he could've been 6 when the show was on and he could've seen it.
What, you think that just because his nickname is High School Ben it means that he is still in high school?
Well... I guess this could be right but he looks older.
Anyway, Ben didn't say that he wasn't born yet when Craig asked wether he watched the show as a kid so i guess he is older.

How old are you, Ben?:)

_______

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Ben's not quite that old...

They mentioned on Sidescrollers a few months ago that Ben just graduated from high school, so he isn't quite as old as you think he is, haha. Also Ben mentions during the commentary that he didn't watch the Zelda show when it aired, he found it later on Youtube.

It looks like someone needs to pay closer attention, hahaha, jk, jk =)

I was born in 1989 actually.

I was born in 1989 actually. I'm turning 19 soon.

25? I'm flattered....... I think....

How old are the ScrewAttack crew members?

Well, you look younger than the rest of the ScrewAttack crew but I didn't think you're 19.:)
How old is Craig, Corey, Destin and Jose anyway?

_______

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Me, Jose and Nick are

Me, Jose and Nick are basically the same age, but everyone else is like post-college and pre-married ages... for now.

So, they're basically in their 20s

So, they're basically in their 20s.:)
Jose is younger than i thought as well.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HE GOT C**k BLOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE THE DVD BOXSET OF THIS SHOW!!

And I love every minute of it.
(I used to watch it on YTV [Canada] at like 5 AM!)

It kicks the crap out of the Mario Cartoons that aired the rest of the week.

Think about it: The Bros. are helping Peach find someone to stop Koopa and save TMK.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, ISN'T THAT WHAT THE MARIO BROS. ARE SUPPOSED TO DO?

Don't get me wrong though, the toon may have sucked, but the Live Action parts were PURE AWESOME!

and yes, Link in this show is a pompous ass.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT COMMENTARY! NEXT TIME I'LL USE LESS CAPS! PROBABLY!

Whatever happened to the Captain N one?

It might help if I wasn't lazy and asked before looking, but meh. Those were funny too.

That was awesome...

I've never seen an entire episode of the Zelda series, and now I kinda want to watch the whole thing. I do like the sound effect stuff they did. It's a nice little touch. The commentary was pretty good too. I hope you guys get permission from DiC (and probably Nintendo) to release these commentaries on DVD.

I always like the Mario

I stiil watch the Mario cartoons, but the Zelda ones are just boring. I always thought Mario danced like a drunk at the end.

The Retro Game Zone

luigi im home

one thing i cant forget

Well Excuse Me...

Yes, the Steve Martin version of Link. It's a classic.

I remember on snow days or on days when I was out of school, I would watch the hell out of this show. Then they changed the format and then it seemed like it was cancelled overnight. Good times.

Do the MARIO!!!

I honestly think I tried to do that when I was a kid...freaky. Still, classic...all bloody classic, SMB 3 cartoon next please!!!

Dirty old Link

LOL Wooooooow!!!

this took me back in the old days, "eeeexxxccccuuusseee me, princess" for me the show was on 4:00pm on fridays on the UPN usally they have the show on weds and fridays, the fridays episodes had Zelda and wedd have just Captain N and mario. i forgot that link was such a self-centered a**hole, ahh good times good times.

AWW-SUMM

More commentaries, this was awesome!

I just to watch that!!

I jused to watch that show in swedish as a kid! They didn't show the legend of Zelda though ; (

HAHAH

The mario song is wicked.

Amazing...

The play button doesnt work, am I the only one with this problem? I tryed refreshing the page but the problem continues.

ah memories

i remember this show, such a classic, i miss how link was such an ass throughout the show.

a random thought came into my head about those chestnuts when i saw them, maybe its like... a premonition of deku seeds? or something like that. i dunno i know they didn't exist when the show was aired but its just a very random thought. :-p

yes!

That was great, can't wait for episode two.

Now presenting...

Screw attack Riff Trax!

Yes, a double dose of the X chromosome DOES equal a double dose of Pwnage! Visit AlisonPrime for a few good laughs!

"Haha, I saved your life

"Haha, I saved your life again! Kiss me!"
BWAHAHAHA.

omg

brings back memories

i have the dvds boxset thing

EPIC.... just... EPIC!!

Men, I had no idea that there was Zelda Cartoons. I already knew about Mario Show, but not this gem of videogame greatness.

And that Link attitude?! Cmon, thats just the cockyer that I ever seen.

But now, Ill just go over there and do a little Mario dance xDD

Sorry to sound like a Zelda

Sorry to sound like a Zelda geek, but yes, it's true. The Master Sword doesn't see the light of day until the SNES Zelda game. The sword Link has in this series is the MAGICAL Sword.

Also, I'm surprised Ben didn't notice that in every Zelda game, Link is left handed, and in the show they made him right handed. (The only game exeption is the Wii version of Twilight Princess, which made Link right handed for better controls) but the Gamecube Twilight Princess he is STILL left handed.

And now I'm going to shoot myself for knowing all that!

It's Okay

Your not the only Zelda Geek I run a support group for people like us

5/5

I only know the Zelda Show from Youtube Poop.
It was never on television over here.
But you guys made me watch this cartoon on Youtube :P

Aganhim is Ganon's

Aganhim is Ganon's shadow.
The hydra boss and Aquamentus are different; Aquamentus only has one head. :)
Cell phone joke got me. :-P
Funny stuff. I have had the series for like a year or a little longer now, and watched it when I was a kid. Watching it as an adult... it's not as bad as it could have been, that's for sure. But that's about all I can say for it. ;-)

My road, my journey

This shit is so good! I hope

This shit is so good! I hope they make more of these in the future because the wizard and double dragon commentaries were great also.

My name's peter and I am a rad guy

woooooooooooowwww

THAT WAS THE COOLEST THING EVAR!!!!

I agree...

this show is why Link no longer talks.

Thank you craig

One of my personal favs growing up as a kid, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show/ Legend of Zelda was the Shit. I own all of the Captain N, zelda, and mario dvds.

robes

obi-wan doesn't wear a robe, he wears a cloak! great commentary cant wait for more

Well!

And you know something else, Obi-wan is untrustworthy! If you recall, he told Luke that Vader killed his father...?

How do you like that??!

So I suppose it's true- don't trust anyone in a robe.

hahahaa

I used to watch the super mario bros super show all the time and used to love the zelda cartoon, I was just to young to realize when it was on and would always be upset when it was a mario cartoon instead of zelda...

Link has the same problems getting girls as Destin has

It seems Link has the same problems getting girls as Destin has.:)
Pity he wasn't one of the commentators as well.

One more thing - I liked when Craig compared Ganon's voice to Conan O'brien trying to do an evil guy.

This video was funny.
Keep 'em coming, guys.:)

_______

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

that fairy cockblocker

damn

That was funny.

I wish I had my own sound effects like Link. I had never seen the show but it looks ok but the commentary was awesome

I Literally LoL'd

When they almost kissed and everyone was all like AWWWWWW lmao that was pretty epic

XD I remeber the super mario

XD I remeber the super mario super show! Oh god...

lol i have the entire series

lol i have the entire series on dvd. i got it as a gift

its pretty lame but hilarious because its so cheesy

"well excuseeeeeeeeeeee me princess"

the mario show was okay

this one scared me is was just so stupid.

Heh

I saw this before it was even released... lucky me.

Saved your life again; Kiss me! loll

Ha ha ha, that was awesome! Still can't believe he said that xD Anyway, while watching this, i remembered i kind of always wanted to watch this show but for so many different reasons, i never did, still the fact remains that after seeing this, i think i think i should have watched it lol Nonethenless, this episode was awesome and i especially like how they crushed my all-life opinion on Link when he said his famous '' Well, excuse me, Princess... '' xD Because, try to imaginate, you've got me, a Zelda maniac since Link to the past back on the Snes, who'se after all those years get pretty used to seeing Link not say a single word, then comes the time when he finally watches his first Zelda episode and the first thing he sees of it is Link talking... Really, i'm not kidding, i was roflmao because the shock was so hard, yet so great. Still, i guess some people didn't like the fact that Link was acting '' too '' manly in this serie and that's must be why so many people told me not to watch it in the past but oh well, in my case, i thought it was funny as hell so who cares. Nonethenless, now that i'm amused to death, i personnaly think this show was awesome, despite all his weird stuff and besides, it cannot be worse than the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, which i also like by the way but hey, that was a really original idea guys, keep up the good stuff! Can't wait to see more of it cause i really feel i missed a lot when i didn't watch it in the past but oh well, i'll catch up! xD

P.s Oh, i almost forgot, i wanted to express my nerdiness on Zelda and clarify some things about Agahnim, Ganon and Ganondorf cause i think there was a bit of confusion around it all. Highschool Ben had most of the answer but Stuttering Craig was in the potatoes loll and Jose didn't know about it so i'll just go and forgive him. xD Anyway, here's the full detailed story about those three, i hope you enjoy and here it is:

-So, back to the beginning of the Zelda storyline, it all started when the godesses of power, wisdow and courage, respectivly Din, Farore and Nayru (you get to see them LIVE in many of the Zelda games) sent upon humanity a golden power, a power so strong it could do anything. If a man with good heart were to touch it, it could grant him power to do anything ''good'' he wants but however, if a man with an evil heart were to touch it, it would result into catastrophies (just like in most of the Zelda games). Man, i do feel like a teacher right now but it's fun so i'll continue. xD So, the godesses placed that power known as the Triforce, into the golden land *spoiler alert* (which turns into the Dark World once Ganon is freed) so that not just anybody could find it. Still, after many battles because everybody wanted infinite power, Ganondorf, king of the Gerudos, gets his hand on the Triforce and has his heart is wicked, turned the golden land into the dark world. Then, sensing that Ganondorf was causing way too much trouble (duh!) in the has been golden land, the king of Hyrule choosed seven ancient sages and they created a seal in order to emprison the evil man into his evil world since Ganondorf with the Triforce of power was just too strong to be defeated. Thus, feeling the need to strenghten their seal, the seven sages decided that in order to break that seal, one would have to disposes of all seven of them (regardless of that, in Link to the Past, it refers to the seven royal maidens) and the seal would be broken. -Edit- Still, Ganondorf tired of being stuck in his lonely world decided to possess Agahnim, a really powerful sorcerer, take care of the seven maidens and liberate himself, which he did by sending all seven of them in the dark world, how cruel! loll -Edit- *another spoiler alert* (Btw, Princess Zelda is the seventh royal maiden.) Then, at the end of Link to the Past, you get to fight Ganondorf, after disposing of Agahnim for the 2nd time and guess what? He turned into a huge pig and his name is now Ganon! Now, while i do not claim to hold the ultimate truth about him, it is believed (by me loll) that Ganon might or no, is Ganondorf's true form as it is said that the Dark world reveals people's true identity in their hearts and transform them into a rather random but somewhat funny form like a rabbit in the case of Link, a pig in the case of Ganon. There's also that guy who'se afraid that turned into a ball with legs when venturing into the dark world and this guy who like to beat the hell out of him that turn into a monster in that same world but oh who cares about them. loll

Anyway, man, it sure was long to write it all,so long in fact that i thought i would never see the end of it but oh well, now it's written , everyone will kow the truth about three of the most respected? but famous Zelda vilains and i hope you'll have found my little (rather long) story interesting. Feel free to correct me if i made a mistake somewhere because it took so much time to write, that i might and until next time, cya!

Aganhim

I think that's how you spell it but Aganhim was possessed by Ganon

You sure?

Mmh, yeah, it's possible i might be wrong about Agahnim's name but as for his identity, i cannot be more sure that he is Ganon's shadow. Remember at the end of Link to the past when you defeat him for the 2nd time? Agahnim turn into a rather shadowly bat and fly back to Ganon. I once thought he was just a really powerful sorcerer with a really diversified spellbook but if so, why can't he be seen anywhere in the gold pyramid, just after previously entering it? The only other possibility is that Ganon eats him before we get to the pyramid but that would be kind of weird... loll

here

Here's proof it's the GBA version but I don't think it will matter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qBjV_P114A

Holy crap...This is...

Unbelieveable! I had completly forgotten that... loll Looks like you were right on that point, my bad then. xD Like i said, i might and was wrong on Agahnim after all but wait, now that i've seen that, i have one question! If Ganon posseses Agahnim then why didn't he just get out of his body right at the beginning of the game, kill everyone and win, wouldn't that have been a lot easier and way faster than doing what he did? It's like going from Quebec to New York and while you could just go down and reach Manhattan in some hours, no, you go left, cross all Canada long then go down and turn left to cross all Usa long. Try that and i can guarantee you it will take like so much more time than the first option. But, like i said, he's right in the Hyrule castle from the beginning and for a long time and i don't know why but he just stands there and... i don't know, this is just so confusing lol No wonder the Avgn did a video on the Zelda storyline, it's like so many storylines all tangled up and all interconnected at the same time but in the end, that's what i like the best of Zelda games, the badass storyline. ^^

P.s: Great video but the guy got killed by Agahnim loll He should have drank a blue potion right before the battle instead of just rushing in cause that's really a bad idea to enter such a fight with onl so little life left... xD That's my opinion.

Because

If he did that than Ganon would actually win and even though he claims he wants to win and take control of the world he really just wants to get his ass handed back to him by Link btw I almost Rick Roll'd you so here's that link in case you have 3 extra minutes to hear a gay guy sing (I never said he was bad)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
