Super Smash Bros Brawl may be one of the most popular games on the Wii but how is it any different than Melee on the Gamecube? Ben fills you in.
Does anyone not know how to dodge that Tabuu attack?
you dodge by pressing the shield button and down on the analog stick at the same time. Right as he opens his wings, dodge before the three rings hit you with good timing, and you should be home free. Hope I helped some people with this. Oh and the Story mode might make more sense, since there's no dialogue if you read this.

This is really one of the best games ive played. and yeah ben has goteen alot of the things rite, like wolf, but Tabuus attack is dodgeable, its just really hard to get the timing rite

I love this game too. I played it at my friends house and even when he fell asleep, I stayed up for like 3 more hours, haha. But yeah, great game, especially the co-op Subspace Emisary mode!

Hey, great review...I agree...it's Super Smash Bros. Brawl (and therefor awesome).
You negatives though (and I know you had to think really hard for them) were as lame as every other negative I've heard from reviewers. I think we should start giving games like the Halo series, or GTA 4 lower scores for only having one playable character, in fact, any game that doesn't have at least 4 times as many characters (one of which must be Mega Man) should get a lower score. Also..I think King Dedede is more popular than K.Rool (plus, Sakurai, the maker of Super Smash, made the Kirby series. And Wolf's not that cheap....

when you said you'd rather stickers be taken out and have more characters added. i don't think you know how it works. see more than 200 people worked on brawl. they have different teams for everything. adding stickers wouldn't have taken up time for the characters because even while they were making stickers they still had other people working on characters at the same time.
p.s.-i know many people said this already but tabuu's wing attack is dodgable. it takes a while for the timing though. (that's how i beat boss battles on intense.) or to find out just watch a boss battles on intense video on youtube

what would king k rool's special moves be, dedede is easier to come up with moves. the story wasn't too hard to comprehend. the subspace army is trying to take over smashworld and all the heroes join together throughout the story. tabuu wants to take over smashworld. the bombs suck stuff up from smash world and take it into subspace, he is controlling master hand and master hand hired ganon bowser and wario to turn people into trophies. because heroes means more heroes they can copy. wolf is not cheap he sucks and nice ball smash and flippin off though lol. sorry about all the negativity i like the video but there are some things that had reasons that you didn't mention and i'm just mentioning them here. oh and it wouldn't be the same as melee with different characters. there are different teechniques andthe gameplay is just completely different. if you were a tournament player you'd know. i'm not but i listen to a bunch of interviews and crap.
p.s.- i want to brawl!

my favorite characters are as following....
samus - slower,but best final smash,can switch to Zss
wolf -powerful but not too slow love the tank,and his ^b
sonic- I cant belive how good he is, down b great move
helps with combos and sonic is fast not to light , perfectly balanced,and a real combo whore too much to list how much sonic impresses me!
game & watch-old school favorite from melee,luv his hammer attack strong slashes that are fast and is just about the same heft as sonic, :) g&w glad you returned!
marth- wow what an improvement! the fwd b is soo much easier too pull off now and his stab (b) move makes so much more sense because before it was just like the fwd special but penetrated shields,strong and swift marth is cool...
Ike- way better than roy simply because roy was a sad copy of marth but slower and stronger,well ike is NOT!Ike is slower but at the expense of being WAY STRONGER TOO! the fwd b is a sweet way to jump in the fray,the standard A button is powerful by its self,and
the b special killZ just charge and wait for the piece of shit to fall on you and HA their dead!
zero suit samus- took some getting used to but i love the fwd b special ,its like Zap,Zap just stop the fowes in their tracks and then their dead,fast and kicks ass!
king dee dee dee, yeah hes slow, yeah hes b special is weird because its like kirbys but doesnt copy, but
dont be fooled HE IS THE SHIT STRONG!!and he can jump too, sure hes slow but you need to time it all right like snake,B is for sucking people up then spiting them out but it spits them out at you like a boomerang

nes/lucas: i love these guys projectiles,freese is fast , flash is big, lucas's pk fire pushes them back while nes'es pk fire burns them, their smash attacks hurt good too , but id rather/WISH/ for poo and or jeff or paula, not a half copy :(

When I heard that they were making another Smash bros I was so excited I ripped my favorite shirt. Now that I played it I want my money back and my favorite shirt. The game basically nerfed all my favorite oldies. I mean Sheik was pretty cheap back in melee, but when the nerf down fox, falcon, and falco how the hell are you supposed to fight back. Also the fighting engine in melee, although biased to certain characters was fun to exploit and helped to shape up stragetys. Now that some people got pwnd to hard and complained they nerfed down the speed and strength of the characters to be more user friendly to everyone but to me it was a total turn off. The story mode was pretty interesting but since I was playing on insane or the hardest difficulty I rarely paid attention to the story and focused more on keeping myself from the next beating. As for the selection of characters, Sonic was indeed a great choice since melee i thought he was sure to be hidden somewhere, but as for people like Robo or whatever it's called I really would have like playing as Simon or Mega Man. All in all I'll just have to give it a 4/5. And since you mentioned that Wolf was pretty cheap I might use him against my sheik abusing friend. (insert evil laugh)

sorry even though this game was great it doesn't stack up to melee. especially when you look at the characters. this roster is almost as unbalanced as melees. especially when you look at final smashes. some have ones that are just ridiculously good some have average ones and some have ones that are almost useless(DK)! this game is good but not as good as melee.
A difference of opinion
While I agree that some of the final smashes are quite useless (DK...why?) while others are insane (Lucas + Final Destination = Death), they are still fun to dodge and use, and they can be taken out of a match too. I'm definitely disagreeing about your comment of roster unbalancedness. While there are a few worse or better characters (Ness and Mario near the bottom, Wolf strangely fast when he's supposed to be at least moderately heavy), I find the roster actually quite balanced.
One of the characters a lot of people seem to be annoyed with is Ike, since he is so powerful. However, although his power is insane, his recovery completely SUCKS! Also, his moves aren't very fast whatsoever. Sonic has tons of speed(SHOCK!), but not really many good knockback moves whatsoever. And who can forget Olimar? The character everyone I know says is the worst ever created, but then they face someone who's good with him and call him the cheapest character imaginable.
I would go on, but I'd just bore everyone to death. In short. if you take a really close look at the characters, most are quite balanced in comparison to Melee. The only thing I really prefer about Melee to Brawl is that you weren't forced to rely on tether recoveries for a moderate amount of the characters. I hate tethers, as you can't use them in a slightly different situation to try to get past an edgeguarder, like you might try with Link's whirling blade or Dedede's Super Dedede Jump.
Other than that, I prefer Brawl to Melee in every possible way.

To be honest, Ike is in fact VERY cheap. His recovery move can go through the bottom of levels (T_T), and who needs to be fast when you can kill someone almost instantly upon charging up your Smash attacks? Also, Sonic is also cheap, but not as much. The only downside for him is the only way he's gonna kill anyone besides items and his Final Smash (also cheap) is a fully charged Smash attack, and even then, the person would have to have been beaten up pretty badly. But Ike should have taken out of the picture completely. Also, many of the names suggested in the video have only one setback: legal rights. Earthworm Jim, for example, was not made by Nintendo. The same case for Mega Man. Also, what I hope everyone knows is the tragic fall of Geno in Brawl. Here's basically what happened there. He was put in the game. Nobody complained. The game was ready to ship December 10 ( 4 long months before the inevitable March 9th release date). Then, Square Enix (like the douchebags they are), came along and said, "No, he's not gonna be in Brawl, cause we own him". So sadly, it was delayed simply because of one company's tendency to be faggots. But I digress... Brawl is an amazing game that has many small problems with it, the biggest being Ike in my opinion, but is still worth more than 50 dollars. So yeah. Go buy it, even if you already own it. Spread the love. =)

i agree with the good points but i think you were a little harsh on the negatives and i understand why. When you have an awesome game like this it's hard to come up with negative points. But i totally disagree with the character selection mention i think it should be changed to the fact there weren't as many characters as i hoped i thought they would go crazy and put in like 50 characters or what ever.

I love the smash bros. trilogy. The first time I picked up an N64 controller I could not put it down it was THAT awesome. and when I heard that Melee was on store shelves, what did I do, THAT'S RIGHT! I bought a Gamecube along with Melee, and man words could not describe how freakin' awesome it was. All the Characters, The music, The graphics, man so awesome. Then Brawl came out. and WOW!!! I could not beleve my eyes it was that awesome. Everything about it was just perfection, but my favorite aspect of the game was the sweet smashes, some of them may not be my favorite but overall its one sweet game. good job nintendo, keep up the good work.

Best...... fighting game.... EVER!!! I believe this is the first one to feature online play (broken, yes, but when it works, it's awesome). Not to mention the entire series allows four people to fight each other at once, whereas traditional fighting games allow only 2 people to fight. FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there Ben. For one thing, your opinions on the characters is rather shallow. You may say that I only disagree with you about R.O.B. is because of my epic standpoint with him. But as far as Dedede goes, he's probably the second most important villian in the series, right behind Metaknight, even though both of them aren't exactly villians nowadays. Also, Wolf was only put in Brawl because of the fans. I find his entry rather strange too. And, to be honest, even though the Subspace Emissary gets repetitive, it's still a pretty epic adventure, which in fact, makes a lot of space if you look into the back story online and in the manual. But other than that, yeah, Brawl is damn near perfect and is a must-have game, which I actually played before it came out =D.

Man, Brawl seemed too over-hyped. Plus, it old really quickly. And I'm surprised that the online sucks so much. They should re-release Brawl and fix the Wifi like they did in Mario Kart.
But I think that R.O.B. was a great character. They should dump Lucas though. Ness is much better.
