Looks like a good game for my young nephew. He likes racing games, and he plays Mario Kart all the time. I do not think the limit of tracks will bug him. He is at the age that finishing next to last at Mario Kart is awesome. haha

yes it reminds me mostly of a cross between F-Zero on GCN, Mario Kart and NFS: Carbon. This is mainly because on NFS: Carbon you could team up with others to help win races, thats what I imeditellty thought of when I saw that feature.

Great review on a game that I think the vast majority of us would pass up. This game doesn't look too bad. It appears that the controls look halfway decent. Hell, its got to be better than Classic British Motor Racing for Wii, which is not only an abomination to racing games but an abomination to the classic British sports cars that are in the game.

I never was a big speed racer fan, but this game looks worth checkin' out because it looks so much like F-Zero GT. Unlike GT this game actually looks like it's relatively easy to beat. But seriously, five tracks? I might just rent it.

Now that I watch it again, I noticed a character named Prince Kabala. That is at least one peace of nostalgia from the show. Prince Kabala was one of Racer X's mentors after he left the Racer family and taught Racer X how to race through the dangers of what I believe was "The World's Most Dangerous Race" episode which is what the main race in the movie is based off of.

Yeah, Kabala's in there, Snake Oiler, and a couple others from the series that were adapted into the movie. (If you watch the movie Kabala is the guy Cannonball takes out in the Grand Prix just before Speed Racer catches up to him. Yeah, I watched this movie too many times lol)
But I have to admit it this looks decent for a movie game... But like Ben's I would have like to have seen more ties to the original series in terms of character selection...
So until there's a F-Zero Wii, I guess Speed Racer will act as a place holder...

I was expecting another "down the toilet" movie game, but it actually looks amazing and good.
I guess some game designers who creates movie games are actually thinking now.
