man so much happened this sidescrollers, Nintendo Power chat was very nostalgic for me, i remember having copies ordered and coming in for me every now and again. i was 5 years old at the time i think. It was pretty cool too cause it was my little way of getting something in the mail.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else that I loved the Nintendo Power chat. Totally brought back memories for me.

Though I also grew up on GamePro when it was fun. Then later, I was a PSM fanatic. That was a great magazine because of the bonus stickers for your console or memory cards and covers by top notch comic artists.

That piece of news about the axe wielding naked guy reminded me of a similar situation from when I was 13.

I live in a corner house and behind this house is another that for some time was rented out to only people that were in the National Guard/Army/Navy. About 8 months before the incident the people who lived there moved out and for a long time it was uninhabited. Obviously I never knew anyone had moved in and one day in my backyard while hanging out with my best friend we were throwing some rocks (about the size of a marble) on to the roof of that house. So then this 35yo or so guy jumped on the fence, started yelling, "What the fuck are you doing?!", and then proceeded to trash my basketball goal (which was the transportational kind that you could roll out on to the street to play with other neighbors) and immediately we ran inside my house. About 15 seconds later we heard him push it down to the ground so we locked all the doors, grabbed a bat, and decided to huddle near the front door. Another minute or so passed and the guy came up to the front door with a slab of rock about the size of a football and he started bashing it against the door. I didn't know what to do and I thought for sure he was going to kill us, my friend suggested he go around back with the bat and hit him over the head with it and I told him not to, all this time he was still trying to work that slab of rock through the entire door and he was getting really close, I started yelling that we called the police and a few seconds later he stopped and went home. Of course at that point I didn't really call the police yet, mainly because I thought we might also get in trouble but I did it right after.

If I was to estimate we were probably about 45 seconds away from death. That guy nearly had the entire piece of rock through the door. When the police came, it was right around the same time my mom got off of work. The whole incident took place on a school day when we were all alone at the time. He got the slab of rock from on side of our house; we just had a few weeks ago a new fence installed with a concrete base and all the leftovers from that was placed in this steel bin there. The police gave us the option to where he could be charged for the incident, but also he could charge us with vandalism. It was basically like, if we press charges then he would too and we would go to juve hall and he would go to jail. So nothing really came from it. Although he basically attempted to murder us he got away with it because I wasn't ready to go to juvenille hall for my first time.

This incident did not have any people involved pissing their pants. Miraculous as it may seem, only Craig wets his tighty whities. Just messing Craig.

edit: I'm 24 now so this took place 11 years ago. (1997)

I don't know I suck at making names but the new guy sounds cool, and he was pretty funny.

Anyways congrats on the engagement I'm glad you were able to overcome your chronic pants-wetting to carve out a semblance of a normal life. (kidding it will never be brought up again...hehehe)

Still listening, but I had a few comments to make on the Nintendo Power discussion:

1. The game rankings were based on the Player's Poll section, where readers would send in the card and answer the questions to be entered in a drawing for some (supposedly) awesome prize. There's one part on the card where they ask to rate games from a list in your order of preference.

2. The SNES in the ice cube was not photoshopped. It wasn't frozen either, though. The "ice cube" was actually a hollow plastic mold that they put the SNES in and put water drops on.

FYI Craig!!! The game you were tlaking about with the tanks... I think its Scorched Earth... I used to play it as a kid on 3.5in floppies!!!
