Anyone out there familiar with the arcade chain GameWorks? The chain is a pretty decent chain, with well-maintained machines, some of the most up-to-date games from Japan, and owned in part by Sega. Good stuff.

G1's, SCG attendees, parents and legal guardians, lend me your ears (or your eyes, as the case may be). If you have not yet heard the announcement, Jack Thompson has been signed on as a guest at the ScrewAttack Gaming Convention. The opportunity is surprising, considering he is essentially Public Enemy #1 when it comes to the video gaming community.

Some of you may have someone special this year, others may not (T_T), but for anyone who wants to share these feelings with someone, this is just for you! I scoured the 'net for some of the best gaming related Valentine E-card images I could find and thought would be worthy to share with all of you here. So, here you go, Valentines cards for the gamer in your life!

I've been an anime and video game convention attendee for a while now, over 5 years strong and over 20 conventions veteraned, and the experience still doesn't grow old. Well... that's a lie. There's some parts of it that do start to grow old after enough time. But to be with all the kinds of people you know and like, in an atmosphere that encourages nerdy growth, how can you not enjoy yourself?

This blog is neither witty nor intelligent. It's not trying to get any Top g1 Post spot or earn any g1 points. And it's certainly not trying to be very attention-grabbing or influential.

Gaming should be fun. Gaming should be played within a community of people who want to have fun together. Gaming should be there for everyone to enjoy. It's a great feeling, playing with friends, playing with people who enjoy it on their own, and then meeting with other people who enjoy it just as much as you do.
Gaming should be a joy.
Sometimes, though, someone will not be having fun. Someone will be miserable. Someone will ruin your day, whether they're trying to or not. Or maybe you'll even run into a day where you're just as miserable.

While arcades are a dying artform, I still find myself going out to one of my local arcades at least once a week. There's still plenty to play in my local area, and I'm happy to go and make friends. Unfortunately, there's still some jackasses out there who seem to try to make it their goal to give you hell. Whatever happened to Gamers Courtesy?

While my videos may be featured not only on my own web site but also on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com, I still wanted to share my Christmas wishes with ScrewAttack. The G1 community has been good to me since my arrival, and since a bit of this video is gaming-related, I wanted to share.
So, what happens when you replace the letter X with the word Christ, such as in Christmas? Find out here in my X-mas video.

The ScrewAttack Gaming Convention web site has just been opened to the public eye. You guys may be wondering - just what is there to do? How should I be enjoying it? I've heard that there were enough of you who have never attended a convention before, and as a veteran of conventions in the US and Japan, let me be the one to give you the low down. Here's what you need to bring, what you DON'T need to bring, and exactly how YOU can have a good time with your fellow attendees.

To start with, I want to thank everyone for the AMAZING amount of response to a previous blog entry I had written entitled "Nintendo and its Fans: Who Abandoned Who?" (yes, you sticklers, I realize it should have been "Who Abandoned Whom"). I could not have imagined the number of Diggs it would receive after only two days, the amount of comments it got, or the masses of E-mails and private messages I would start to receive based solely on this one topic.

Growing up, I was very socially inept. I had few friends, and most people didn't even really know I existed. Sometimes I was sad about it. But in the end it would usually seem as though my best friends were cartoons, comics, and video games. This was perhaps the sorriest time in my life, a time where I considered myself friendless and chose only to keep myself entertained alone. Of course, I was an only child, and so keeping myself entertained was never truly difficult.

Nintendo and You. Nintendo has always been there, been your best friend, and your toughest opponent. It brought you together with friends and you missed it when you were grounded from it.
But now, here you are, feeling betrayed by your old best friend. Sony and Microsoft stepped in, draped their arm over your shoulder, and insisted, "You're older now. It's time to grow up. We can show you a good time." And so, as gamers, we have been led away from our old best friend. And we are convinced that it is Nintendo's fault for not "growing" along with us.
