Multiplayer: When is a Winner Being Cheap?

(Multiplayer is a series of Blog posts that focuses on gaming as a community and competitive activity. Centering in on specific aspects that many multiplayer games have in common, this article tries to search deep into gaming theory and philosophy.)

"Ugh, stop doing that move! You're being so cheap!"

How many times have you heard this line, in some way, shape or form? Or even said it yourself?

Webcomic Review: The Zombie Hunters

Here's the deal: I read A LOT of webcomics. I mean a LOT. It all started years ago when I found Bob and George (www.bobandgeorge.com, you'll never look at Mega Man the same way again), the first sprite comic, which also made sprite comics a rather popular medium for comic strips.

Wii Homebrew: Tapping the Untapped Potential

I love the Wii, and am an avid user. People who know me, know this. This is not to say, however, that I'm blind to its many problems. The graphics are not top notch, although in my opinion they are absolutely wonderful in some games, Mario Galaxy for example (If you haven't played that with HD support, do so Immediately). Also, the game library, while having some excellent titles, is still not quite so expansive yet.

Serge's Virtual Reviews: Sin and Punishment

Something I don't do often is do a full on review of a game. It's not really my style to be completely direct. As those who read my blogs know, I tend to do a whole lot of mini-reviews of games based on a topic.

Remaking the Classics: Part 2

In the last few years, remakes have been rather prevalent in gaming culture. Perhaps it's just because we're very far along into this gaming age, and those who are older like to see their favorites in bright, shiny new graphics with new features. It could also mean that companies are running out of ideas, and are turning to old games that were very popular, hoping they have kept the same sort of popularity.

However, that is a debate that can be waged for quite awhile. And honestly, I don't care too much. Because A.) I love these remakes, and B.) I'm just here to tell you about them!

A Bit Off-Topic: Serge's General Advice

Today, I'm not here to talk about games. I'm not going to talk about anything specific really. This is very different from my normal posts or conversation, because something extremely significant happened to me and someone I knew very well recently, so I just wanted to post a little something to convey my feelings.

Why we Love the Classics: Doom

It's time to take you guys back.

It's the early 90's, game consoles are still the Kings of Gaming, and computers are just finding their ways into the homes of Mr. Average American.

PC games exist, but they have yet to reach a fever pitch yet.

Then, in 1992, a game called Wolfenstein 3D is released by a company called id Software. This isn't their first game, or first popular game either, as they also made the Commander Keen games as well. However, id made their name with Wolfenstein 3D.

Why we Love the Classics: Kirby Super Star

Back in 1996, just a few weeks before the Nintendo 64 was released, we saw a little game called Kirby Super Star. Now, this was the first Kirby game I had ever played at the time...and I tell ya, what a start to that series it was. It's still the best Kirby game ever made!

Why we Love the Classics: Star Fox 64

Hey there g1's. Here's a new Blog Series of mine that was inspired when I started to hook up my old Consoles for another spin. Today I finally got some cleaning done and cleared space for the old Nintendo 64, popped in Star Fox 64, one of my favorite games for the system, and found I still love the game a terrific amount! So, here we go!

OBJECTION!!! (Or, Why we Love the Ace Attorney Series)

It all started (at least in the US) with an early title in the DS Library: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. A game that was not shipped out in great numbers, as Nintendo didn't really believe that it would sell that well. However, within a few weeks time, you couldn't find this game AT ALL, ANYWHERE. What little was on the store shelves were gone soon enough, and the game became a Sleeper-Hit for the DS. Why is this series so popular, and why can't we get enough of it? Well, I'll try to find that out here today.
