Rockin' out with The Megas

This week's g1 Submission comes from g1 Knothole Resident who has exposed us to a pretty rad band that we haven't heard from before this video- The Megas. While, to be honest, the video is a play through on Heat Man's stage, the tune by itself is rad enough for the watch.

That... was a different g1

That... was a different g1 submission, oh well that's just my usual expectation of hearing voices ~_~. Love the music btw.

what?

what is the song talking about? It's a good song, but it has nothing to do with megaman, until thaey say megaman for what seems to be no reason.

Just an idea

I think the song is suggesting what megaman is going through, so while not quoting many things from the game its still about it.

Fireman

its Fireman singing about fighting Megaman

HEAT man

actualy, seeing as it's not only heat mans area, but also heat mans tune I would think its heat man of mega man2 and not the original fire man. also i realize it says fire MUCH more than heat, but it seems more like it would be heat man.

Video needs some major work...

Honestly, the video needs some better work...that or someone playing with better kick ass skills to make it improved. :P Other than, enjoyed the music, but I wished it was more related to games. I often love music connected to VG like Can't Beat Air Man. Keep up the good work!

Nice Track

That's a nice track. I'll hope to hear more...

Not too bad, although the

Not too bad, although the lyrics remind me a lot of MC 900 Ft Jesus' "While the City Sleeps."

And the player needs to learn how to overcome the shifting blocks section, something fierce.

But, as a cover of Heat Man's theme, it was pretty cool. I enjoyed it.

...

that was uhh...
different...
Seriously ScrewAttack was this the best G1 submission Sunday you could find?

Whoever was playing sucks at

Whoever was playing sucks at megaman.

Agreed

Especially at the disappearing blocks.

Also, needs more Metal Blades for more Epic Win. A Megaman 2 video without Metal Blades is a Sin against Capcom.

Agreed.

God I remember that pattern from long ago. I was practically yelling and laughing at my screen at the same time.

If only I were deaf

This is painfull. Poop for the ears.

sucks

i dont like this..one of the worst submissions, get a little more creative then playing horrible and slapping a song on to it

This

Reply to aunitleader - Thats what I thought. Anyone can play music over gameplay, I was hoping for something more unique and special...

Great song SHIT video.

The song was great but sounds like everything in the world today.

As for the person that played it your uber lucky that u had an emulator because i could almost swear that you barely made it through the game and even than the gameplay was newb at best.

Anyone else notice?

He just skipped out the last section of dissapearing blocks and went straight to the boss battle. I'm guessing he messed up a bit there.

Too much trouble

Obviously this guy had some difficulty with the disappearing blocks. It probably actually him a substantial amount of time to get past that particular part.

The lyric writing could use some (a lot of) work

Besides this, the playing isn't too bad. They actually did an entire album based on covering Mega Man 2, which I like as a concept. They also extended certain portions of the songs without sounding horrendously obtuse.

Also note that the lyrics have plenty to do with the game, it's Heat Man supposedly singing.

Also: I own their shirt, and am apparently the only person in Oregon to do so, as the state on their map on their MySpace turned blue after I bought the shirt.

...It's a bitchin' shirt.

That rocked.

That rocked.
I really enjoyed the song, it was well made.
Although it had nearly nothing to do with Megaman.
The video was okay, but the Megaman skills could be better.

Skillz

The guy playing the game for the vid wasn't very good at it.

I always found Heat Man's stage nails

I think I mite go play mega man 2 on my wii now.

Come join the fun at wonderwallweb.com

Nice. ^^

Nice. ^^

Awesome

Veeeeeery nice Track, but they suck at Megaman 2 !

Wasn't my cup of tea to be

Wasn't my cup of tea to be honest. Just reminds me of some bands I don't listen to generally.

Well

Well, that sure was different

song

why does everyone keep saying the song is good??
i think it sucks a lot. it's not the band, i just can't stand alternative with punk or whatever the hell that was.

Not the Sort of stuff i'd

Not the Sort of stuff i'd listen to but it wasn't bad.

Umm....

Yeah. I just stopped after the main chorus.

Who is responsible for choosing submission sunday? jeez...

Alright

not my time of music but still good i guess.

The gameplay

man the dude or girl thats plays to the song was relly bad nad the song was not a favorit ether

Megas!

I'm glad to see The Megas get a little recognition. They're a good band, they do all the Megaman 2 songs. ALL OF THEM.

That was pretty good, I'm

That was pretty good, I'm not sure how a band like that would work...

Well...

That was a little different than the other submissions. It's not as bad as some people are saying though IMO.

Great!

This is just great! The song fits the stage just perfect!

Hate is just the kind of love you give to idiot people

Neat

It was more entertaining than a lot of other G1 Submission Sundays.

They picked a g1 video just

They picked a g1 video just because they put a song in it?
Photobucket

Solid song and a decent

Solid song and a decent gameplay video. I suck at megaman though so I can't really bash your skills or anything like that. The song itself was pretty good. I think if it was done in a top notch studio it would be even better, but any music about or involving videogames that's good enough to pass of as music is cool in my book. Good job Knothole Resident.

It was good, but can be better!

I believe the gameplay could've been a lot better, and you could've put some effort into the editing.

The song was decent enough...

but sadly the video it is paired could have been a lot better and frankly drags the song down because of it...

Boring

I just didnt like the video the song was under par but because it was based on mega man it was alright

song kicked ass

I thought the song rocked! Although the lyrics for me did seem a bit weird and out of place :S

It was pretty good. Wasn't

It was pretty good. Wasn't digging the song to much, but still good.

Good

That was a good song.

Not bad; needs work

The people playing the instruments were pretty good, but the vocals didn't really seem to keep the flow/pace of the song. I did check out the Metal Man video, and it was definately better in terms of a catchy tune, relevance, gameplay, and all that. THAT vid should have been the one posted.

I agree, the Metal Man video

I agree, the Metal Man video is much better.

Needs a bit more "epic"

I think this could have been better if they timed the video to the music. Maybe did some epic things like a speed run, no mess-ups. Didn't get a sense of timing from the video.

Nice

That video was nice and the music was awesome.

ok

Nice music :D but could have been a little more creative ^^

wow u sucked at the

wow u sucked at the dissapearing blocks part, otherwise it was a pretty good video

not bad

i prefer a little more heavy metal tho!

lameness

The music isn't that exciting and the game shots are not anything out of the ordinary.

Cool!

COOL!! where did u get that song?!

If u want too play some good games, den play nintendo games
Nintendo=Good Games!!

The Megas...eh

The Minibosses, Powerglove and The NESkimos are WAY better bands for video games music.

Play against Chase357 on GameTap! - Xbox Live GamerTag Coming Soon...

What about...

The Advantage, their way better then any of those video game bands. And as far as Megaman themed music goes, The Protomen are probably the best, if anyone remembers, Gamejew featured them a while back, I think it was on one of his last videos on Screwattack.

But you have to give props to the Minibosses...

To my knowledge, they were the first band to really pull this off, and get any kind of recognition. On top of that, they do MANY different songs, and don't just concentrate on one series. Their Castlevania covers and Wizards and Warriors tracks are pretty awesome, and their Mega Man stuff is pretty good too.

What I prefer about them is that they don't try to add lyrics to the songs. I think that takes quite a bit away from teh experience, unless it's done REALLY well.

As far as the Megas, The music was good, but I really would've liked it better without the lyrics.

Greg from The Megas here...

Thanks for the post! I'm glad some of you liked the song... as far as the lyrics go, all of our songs are sung from the perspective of that level's boss, apart from the Dr. Wily 1-2 stage music and the ending song, which are both sung from Megaman's point of view. If you didn't like the style of this song in particular, check out some of our other stuff... this song is a pretty big departure from the rest of our music.

You can check out more songs on our website at http://www.themegas.com (scroll down to the bottom of the first page for the last.fm player) or on our myspace at http://www.myspace.com/themegas - there's also some more fan videos like this on youtube from the same guy.

Oh yeah one other thing - our guitar player did a run of Mega Man 2 and we added commentary to it and our music behind each stage - check it out if you like!

There are so many other

There are so many other great vids of guys doing awesome guitar solos of magaman songs. I wish I could see one of those here, but this was alright I guess. After all someone did go out of their way to make this for us to see. The least we could do is make a constructive criticism and not be an internet jerkoff.

Wonderfull ^_^

Just got the album a few minutes ago, and I'm loving it. Many of my co-workers are gaming people, and they'll get a thrill out of this.

That was cool.

I loved the music but when I saw how much time was left on the bar and the dissapering block part over the lava I was disappointed to not see it done in one go.

Better than I thought it would be

When the song started I thought it would be a rap, thank god it wasn't. It was ok, but this is one of the key examples, along with Sonic, that a good song dosn't need cohearent lyrics (or none at all) and I like it that way, lyrics are for wimps! (and yes I, am seirious)

Very nice. I may just have

Very nice. I may just have to submit my g1 Submission.

That just plain...

...Sucked. I'll stick with the Minibosses thank you very much.

Lol

1:16-1:57 lol, the blocks disappear haven't you ever heard of a PATTERN?

Lol that's mad ironic you

Lol that's mad ironic you bring that up cause me and my little brother were yellin "FOLLOW THE PATTERN DAMNIT WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING UGH" lol

I'm learning how to play

I'm learning how to play guitar just so i can play retro video game licks like megaman therefore, i like this very much. I'll agree with most people though, that was a sucky player =P

4/6

thanks

Hey guys. I've overwhelmed with the amount of comments Ive received today. I was literally shocked when I found my inbox flooded with youtube subscribers and was wondering what the deal was. Sure enough, I browsed Screwattack and nearly polluted trousers with delight. Negative or positive, I really appreciate the comments and criticism.

Theres other videos that I produced for The Megas with their consent and Im honestly surprised that this video got selected for G1 Sunday. Please check out "Metal Man," its my favorite as well as the bands’. If wanna listen to more of this rocktacular band and their incredible Mega Man II rock opera, head over to http://www.myspace.com/themegas. You wont regret it! Thanks Craig and to the awesomeness that is Screwattack.

short

that was short compared to most g1 submissions.... entertaining tho
