This week's Submission comes from g1 Kenneth who throws us something we don't see very often: a PC game review. If you've ever played any "point and click" adventures then chances are you know of the KQ series... and how easy it is to die.

aww man, its like the game developers are focusing more on the death style than the game. i am glad the sequel "mask of eternity" got some improvement from there.

That sissy scream they do when they fall of cliffs kills me! They sound like Mr. Bill from Saturday Night Live ("Oh, noooooo!"). The hero of the game has to be the biggest pansy ever. A custard pie defeats a yeti?
The funny part is, this is one of the games that was ported from PC to the NES. Only the graphics, sound and controls are inferior. I have no idea why Konami would put their name on it considering the sheer amount of good games that they had a part of.
It wasn't a bad game for its day... but this video does an effective job highlighting some of its more frustrating aspects.

Though I didn't really like the Kings Quest series due to things that seem illogical in the game, like how were you suppose to know that Eagle was able to save you from the nest of birds, but you'll need Meat to feed it?

I like the King's Quest games, even if they kill you evey two seconds. I also like the "wonderful" voice acting that was added to the CD-Rom version of this game. "My Castle! What Happened?" "Hoo, I know who stole your castle!" LOL.

This game looks pretty good; it kind of reminds me of "Hero's of Might and Magic" but with more dying and more that one way to die funny by opponent or to kill your enemy, a custard pie kills the yeti...wow lol. What would he do for a klondike bar?(lame joke...i suck)

Great review! I love to see some more reviews (and deaths) of this series. As much as I enjoyed the point and click adventure games, I never saw any of the logic, reason (or lack of) in this series. I hated it, and the developer obviously had no sense of reasoning. The way to accomplish things were just stupid and illogical. The games were well designed, the story was interesting and the game was unique, but the puzzles were just AWFUL. Please show some more of the developers lack of intelligence and common reasoning.

Whoa whoa whoa, complaining about deaths in King's Quest, and no mention of the infamous "save the rat with a boot" puzzle? (for those that don't know: At one point you have to save a rat from a cat with a boot. But to get the boot, you have to find it in the desert, and it's likely you won't find it unless you were specifically looking for it. And you only get two seconds or so to use the boot. If you don't, then the game is unwinnable, but you won't know that until you get to a certain point where to progress you need the rat to show up and save you)

I really wish I could make a review as good as this, I just made one that kind of sucks. I should invest in a new microphone and spend more time on my videos.
I grew up playing all kinds of Point'n'clickers... Leisure Suit Larry, Loom, Indy, Space Quest, Return of the Fantom, Monkey Island, and many others that I don't even remember now... but my all time favorite, and the one I still love to play: "Hero's Quest: So you want to be a hero", the first of the saga that you may know as "Quest for Glory" now... I love those games, I've beaten the first and the third almost all by myself... but Trial by Fire is a bitch... someday I'll get it... this review sure brought back good memories... I hope someone reviews "Blood and Magic" one of these days.

The Quest for Glory seires is my all time favorite pc adventure game series, I wish I still had my anthology cd though. My favorite was Shadows of Darkness that was a great one.
Yeah, QFG is the best... but I still love "Sywtbah" more than the others, and thanks to this game I now speak english :P (or I think I do... some people actually understand me, heh)
That was a very nice video. Pretty funny. It's weird how there are a lot of games similar like that have most of your time seeing different deaths. But perhaps we just like seeing our characters die, even if it is pathetic.

Anyway, this was a great video. This is the exact reason I don't like the King's Quest series.
Awesome!!!
Kings Quest was so awesome when I was growing up, I still play them from time to time hahaha. Point and click adventure games for the win!!!!
If there is a typewriter I will save on it.
LMAO!

I've been playing this since I was a kid.
I love all these games, especially this one and six. Six is absolutely amazing, possibly the most involving adventure game out there.
He does raise some spectacularly valid points, though. I do believe Roberta Williams spent a lot of time laughing at us.
Funny
Lol, pretty funny review. This guy kind of sounds like Guru Larry.

Deaths?
Space Quest's deaths are funnier. They're later narrated by Gary Owens.

I actually bought it when it came out. I could never get past the snow mountain part, but i was ten and english isn't my first language.
Awesome
King's Quest was an awesome series along with Monkey Island and Space quest. Ahhh the good ol'days.
Sierra Vs Lucas Arts
I never really liked Sierra adventure game i leaned towards Lucas Arts for adventure games.
but if i can find it and play it on SCUMMVM i'll check it out.
Unlikely lines to hear in a TV show
And if you have an opinion on this news story, why not keep it to yourself.

Absurd (the game). But you can die in really funny ways, you can't usually have that in games!
Great review
I haven't played any of the KQ games, but I heard they are awesome though.

KINGS QUEST!?
Haven't heard of the game in years, lol.
Never played 5, but KQ4 must have been one of the hardest games I've ever played.
Ah The Good Ol' Days
What was that Satyr going to do to him? He just walked him off to his little interdimensional pad.
Games nowadays need more interesting ways to die. :) And ways to mock you after you die.

Feeling a bit mauled by a bear Graham?
God I miss the P-n-C Adventure Games....
Great g1 submission....
Covered what I loved (and loathed) about the genre...
and with great read and editing...
...though I was always more of a Space Quest fan rather than King's Quest...
WONDERFUL!
I'll be reviewing a lot of these old Sierra adventure games also. I love to see this!!! Great job :D
Nice!
Great game and a great review! This game had me for ages, lots of fun! Definitely not for the more recent light-hearted gaming generation.
I still can't stop laughing
I still can't stop laughing when I remember that parody to Sierra's games frequent deaths... That one in Monkey Island, when you fell of a cliff...
