I had this one, but I enjoyed the one that came along later that had folding speakers as well unfortunately you went from needing four double A batteries to like twelve.
I remember the Light Boy. It was OK, but not needing one while instead having backlighting would have been so much better. Too bad that one backlit GB model was only sold in Japan.
The worst part about this thing was that the light didn't work... rather it did but it ended up casting shadows that obscured two thirds of the screen, so you were better off without it
I forgot about this until I saw the picture. I clicked on the link you posted thinking, "Well it can't be that much more overkill than the Light BoyOOOHHHMYYYGOD!!"
I had one of these. But mine didn't look anywhere as dumb as this. So I thought, "Maybe mine's third party or something." So I double checked it. Nope, official Nintendo product made by Nintendo. I guess mine is probably a later model.
I had a shitty lighting system for the GBA. It worked so poorly I get mad thinking about it. Also the protection screen that f-ed up my screen completely. Luckily I can play my GBA games on my DS.
I remember there was an even bigger super huge ridiculously big magnifier that you placed the entire gameboy inside of. I looked like a Giant Gameboy too. Fucking thing, now THAT was a waste lol.
This section is kind of awkward. I need to write some interesting, but not bore you with my life story. Let's "get down to brass tacks", we all like video games. If you are down to play, feel free to hit me up online on any of my gaming networks. Oh and follow me on twitter for random musings. Besides that I guess the broad strokes include me being married, having an MBA, and owning a dog named Odie!

I had a light add on. http://www.rewind-bits.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78ea... the best part was it could double as a reading light or flash light.
