It's the same pattern every time for his re-assembling, once you have that down it's not too hard tbh. Make sure you have Thunder Beam cos it's only 7 shots, as opposed to other weapons taking 14. Will save you a lot of headache.
Basically, it's a glitch that deals extra damage when the game is paused just as the projectile make contact and unpause. If you do it fast enough, you could down an enemy with only one shot.
Nope - It's only available on the first. The glitch was so popular even at '87 that Capcom removed the simple pause (the one that doesn't trigger the submenu) on all further MM games.
I never used the trick before. I had trouble at the beginning, but I got good at beating him not long after. I now think he's easier in Mega Man than he is in Mega Man 3 because he doesn't have that cascade attack in MM1.

I've beat this Yellow Devil several times WITHOUT the glitch. That's what happens when you play the Anniversary Collection.
werdman24
Done it before. Now I just need to beat him legit.

Wait, hold up, what is this glitch? o.o and what does it do?

oh cool
is that in all the mega mans ?

I'm not quite sure. I'd say it's probably in the NES Titles, but I could be wrong.

No. Only the 1st one.

I don't use the pause glitch here. but there is one boss in Mega Man 2 where I need the pause glitch to survive.

I've gotten used to Yellow Devil over the years, but as a kid, the pause trick was my saving grace.

For most people, like me, the game is impossible without this trick.
Tom the Iron Man
Best trick in the game, it can be used on other robot masters too if don't quickly enough!
Sidescroller Def
Probably the only reason I was able to beat the Yellow Devil, sad to say.
