I dont care what anybody says, I LOVE the art direction they took for this series. I love how they blend several different styles and, IMO, it works very well because it fits whatever mood the turtles are currently in.
I thought the animation would suck, but I'm loving every minute of it. The way it's done is to look clunky and stiff, but if you look carefully and pay close attention, you'll find that that's more a of a characteristic, as there are tons of little, subtle movements as well, such as in their eyes (I believe it was Raph who had a great up-close shot in the first episode with little facial twitches and subtle eye movements, which is a great example of what I'm talking about).
Well, that would explain why I got some serious Teen Titans vibes from this show (not to mention that Michelangelo's voice actor was the same one for Beast Boy).
You wanna know the real funny part? The 2003 TMNT writers were huge fans of the TMNT and Teen Titans comics, but hated the 2002 Teen Titans cartoon. Now we have a TMNT in the animeish Teen Titans mold.
This works better this for show than in Ultimate Spider-Man because the character designs are more anime-esque, while Ultimate Spider-Man's sudden chibi cutaways just clash with the show's art style.
True, most of the cutaways and 4th wall gags would be more suitable for a deadpool cartoon instead of one with spider-man, but apparently Jeph Loeb wouldn't know that because he thinks that cartoons are ,"just for kids", and wants to insert as many stupid things into our cartoons as he possibly can.
Which is hypocritical of him when you remember he wrote Ultimatum, a comic event that is not kid friendly in any way and consisted of a huge number of characters in the Ultimate Marvel universe being killed for the hell of it.

That's actually the only part of the show that kinda bothers me.

I still hate the CG. It looks tacky and low-budget...
gamerninjaxl
I still think it looks alot more sharp than most nickelodian CG animation.
Mattwo
Are you referring to monkey quest? Because I think it actually might be lower quality.
The models that is. I have no issues with the animation, it's the models that irk me.

that and because i always thought deadpool would be the one breaking the fourth wall and turning chibi and stuff.

Well that and the Turtles already have a pretty big Japanese influence what with being ninjas and being trained by an actual Japanese martial artist.
DanGuy
True, very true.
werdman24
Definitely fits the show.
RetroEternity
I like this part too. It makes the show standout a little bit among other CGI cartoon out there.
