i think its awesome that Raph is the better fighter, thats what i always hated about leo, in most incarnations of the character they make him the best at everything and that always pissed me off
Kinda strange that they have Nolan North on the show(voicing the ones who are in that place named the Kraang) but not him voicing Raph(he did in the 2007 movie). I like this character so far in this show. The interrogation scene was very good.
1st off... Shoutout 2 Craig for making this wonderful site.
2nd,.. Shoutout to this post for making me create my account after being on this website for a WHILE now. I felt obligated to make a post.
No... That is the most ridiculous reason as to why the show is good... In fact that is the 1st reason as 2 why the show is BAD. Raph is a powerhouse... He is a bull that uses his rage to fight. He is a brawler & a bully that is supposedly "cool". The fact that he is the strongest fighter ruins the balance between all of the brothers.
Let me explain... Every brother has a yin and yang that makes them balanced. Mich is goofy and fun loving. Seemingly he is the weakest and his strongest points are when his brothers are all in danger and he has to rescue them. It works for his character development because he has to seemingly "grow up" to be better for his brothers. Kinda like how a child has to grow up into being an adult. Don is the brains but he is the most cautious. He can use his intellect to reach his prime. His development reaches a peak when he gains the courage to protect his brothers. Kinda like a nerd getting courage to get out of his shell to talk to a girl or be brave in another fashion. Raph is an arrogant, self centered guy who is "cool". He is a great fighter and genetically the best out of the 4. However his arrogance leads him to make key mistakes where he overlooks small things. However when he realizes that its not all about winning and he is humbled he reaches his peak. Like a champion that forgets that he has to keep his cool to stay a champion or regain a title. Leo is of course... the lvl headed leader. His biggest weakness is the doubt in himself. He is cool calm and collected. Leo is the red ranger of the show(Sidenote DeathBattle should do TMNT vs Power Rangers but I'm extremely happy with Goku vs Superman... its teh 2nd fight I wanted to see after Sonic vs Mario)
Leo is supposed to keep Raph in check... Since Raph is "better" than Leo this is obviously about to be the "Raph show" instead of "TMNT" What made the show work so well beforehand is the fact that the characters with the most personality have the sort of "secondary roles". Leo on the other hand mainly is the leader and his relationship with Raph makes Raph question the way he does things instead of running rampant like a wild bull.
I feel like the show isn't TMNT but "lets make Raph cool" (Although I think he is jus a douche that deserves a butt whippin).
The show is new... so things could change... but if they dont find a way to fix the chemistry in the show I dont see any interest in any characters minus Raph and Mich.
Keep in mind I did say that the show is new so things could change. But the balance isn't right if Raph goes unchecked. Raph is just gonna own the show and Mich is gonna be the only truly loved character.
I couldn't disagree with you more. First of all, Raph has beaten Leo in a single training duel. I don't think it has been unequivocally been stated that Raph is the best. Also, Raph beat Leo when sparring. Some fighters do better than others when sparring because they won't hesitate even if it means hurting their partner. But as we've seen, in a real fight, Leo is the most under control and disciplined of the group. And clearly Leo isn't being bossed around by Raph. When Raph was out of control, Leo sent him home to deal with his anger issues, and Mikey and Donnie backed Leo up on that.
I think the show has done a great job with Donnie. Where Raph is physically intimidating, Donnie comes back with mental intimidation shouting at Raph and calling him "meathead". While Mikey lets Raph whoop on him, Mikey messes with Raph constantly and gets under his skin.
My guess is that like Raph's anger management episode, we will see episodes that focus on each character. I look forward to Mikey's episode where he learns to focus.
Actually, I already know the point you'll make; Leo allowed Donnie's superior range to weaken Raph before moving in for the kill, as expertly explained by your esteemed self.
See, this is why I consider DEATH BATTLE to be a superior show to Deadliest Warrior.
It made sense to do this cause one thing I never liked about Raph was that unlike Wolverine or other rebels who talk the talk, Raph could never walk the walk. For all the attitude he has, he was always getting his behind kicked. Look at the movies or later cartoons. He got his behind whipped and kidnapped more than April ever did. While he's not my favorite turtle I'm glad to see they finally let him be the man so he doesn't look like a fool when he gets beat up.

Raph is also good at interrogation.
FLoridian Joshua
On the show, Raph is also good at interrogating people.
m3Atl0afman
Well, this is only the beginning of the series. Later on, eventually, Leo might (MIGHT) or COULD surpass Raph.
armodillo17
I would say he is CAPABLE of being a better fighter. As the 3rd episode shows, when his anger goes too far, it makes him a much worse fighter.
theentertainmentguy
I hope he isn't a douche like the other versions.
MagnumMagnus
Obviously the creators of this series did not agree with Wiz and Boomstick, neither of whom could be reached for comment.
Ben Singer
Actually, DEATH BATTLE does name Raph the stronger fighter.
MagnumMagnus
True, but he done got stabbed in the throat.

Say, that gives me an idea...

Mad-Hatter
yes, I think that this is the best portrayal of Raph that there has been since the first movie, theyve nailed him
LousyTactician
Raph is my favorite turtle, but DEATH BATTLE says otherwise to this claim.
RetroEternity
Hell yes! That's why Raph is my favorite turtle
