Activision's Walking Dead FPS will be shooting up the Wii U this March

1/11/13 9:59pm

It seems as though publisher Activision will be bringing their upcoming Walking Dead game to Nintendo's Wii U console. However, when speaking to Digital Spy, producer Glenn Gamble explained that a Wii U version of the game wasn't planned from the get go...

"We were halfway through the project when the Wii U thing started coming about. We didn't want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, 'What can we augment with the Wii U version?' "

Gamble then explained what will make the Wii U version of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct separate from its console counterparts. With the use of the Wii U's GamePad the producer explained it would make the inventory experience "more streamlined"...

"With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tap what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It's a lot more streamlined."

Finally, the article left off saying gamers in the UK can expect to take on the undead when The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct hits stores on March 29 (which is a Friday). As for North America, games typically become available the Tuesday prior to the UK release, so Survival Instinct should be releasing on March 26 for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U

So g1s, what do you think? Does Zombie U have some competition? Or is this just going to be a lame cash-in on the popular AMC television series? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Personally, I am not a fan of Zombie movies, so, it's likely that I will not give too much attention for any game of this type. But, of course, people have different taste. - Trident University

What I hate about this is that it completely undo's the work telltale has done. Telltale made a unique, amazing game based on the walking dead. While every other company would just follow what they think would just make the most money and make a generic fps game out of it. Telltale made the game they wanted to make, and it was damn good. It also showed a game doesn't have to be a FPS to be popular and make money.

Looks like the old IW Engine getting it's last work out of this generation before being completely obsolete. Oh well, could be fun, and since the Wii U lineup this year is barely known, at least I can play this.

I have a feeling it's just going to be a cash-in... we all knew TellTale Games could do amazing things but this, coming from Activision... worries me.

activision is not that bad dude i get why the walking dead would go with them to devolop a game like this since all the CoD Zombies and they are coming off an amazing year in 2012 but id much rather see Bethesda or Valve make this title i think Activision can pull it off

Looks like early stuff, and it also looks like CoD Zombies in a way.
