Aluminum cans into video game characters

Editor's Note: Updated the post with a photo gallery. You can check out more of Makaon's work here!

Check those great sculptures by Japanese artist Makaon! So yep, you can be an ecological geek artist, no doubt about it. The evolution of origami maybe?

"The Japanese artist Makaon has a knack for taking discarded objects and turning them into works of art. Recently, he turned his artistic eye to some familiar fictional characters. Makaon uses nothing but discarded aluminum beer and soda cans to sculpt figures of video game and other pop culture characters such as these impressive Mario and Luigi sculptures."

As soon as I saw these, I had to post something about it. This just amazes me how one person can turn one thing into something completely different. Guess that's one way to reuse and recycle huh?
