Animal Crossing: New Leaf has a US release date and Donkey Kong Country Returns gets a 3DS Port

Today on Nintendo Direct, Iwata announced some pretty insane things. Animal Crossing New Leaf having a US Release Date of June 9th and a Wii game is going to be ported to the 3DS. That game is Donkey Kong Country Returns. The 3DS port of Donkey Kong Country Returns will be released this summer on the eShop, though it's not yet known if the port will get a physical release. It probably will.
The Animal Crossing New Leaf is available now, but the Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is exclusive to the 3DS eShop.

I bet that Ferret shall be pleased to see the news on the new Animal Crossing. Although, the DK game falls on deaf ears for me since I already have the Wii game so...

Here I thought we'd be getting the original Donkey Kong Country on the 3d and a slight chance of getting DKC2 in rd, but no it's got to be the one where you have to collect lots of crap to beat it. Also while I hate the push back on Animal Crossing, I can understand the wait. Animal Crossing has a lot to translate. Conversations, Item descriptions, events, all the fish jokes, the list goes on. Even for a great team of translators it's gotta take a while to get all of that into a game. I'd rather have a great game at the start of summer, and one now that had minor errors in translating. Plus this will be just enough to hold me off till Pokemon comes out in fall.

Lose the nos glass's dude. DKCR is the best donkey kong. And if you're complaining that you have to "Collect lots of crap to beat it" you must really hate DKC2. Except you seemed excited at that coming. Odd.

I dislike DKCR because of motion control play, and it just seemed like it's collectables were more randomly added in as an after thought. DKC2 had the money token, the dk coin, and bonus level coins. That wasn't really that many, and I haven't fully beaten it, I always get stuck on the level where you get to be the spider in Gloomy Gultch (been years so forgot the name of area) No the real one for stupid collecting was DK64, but for some reason it didn't bug me then either. Strange. I think I enjoy DKC2 because of Dixie, she was just fun to play as for me.

On one hand, DKCR3D is a bit of a lazy port. On the other hand, removing the motion controls from DKCR now makes it perfect.

It's ridiculous that Animal Crossing apparently needs 6-7 more months of development than the already released Japanese version to release over here. Is it already finished?

Animal Crossing has a lot of text to localize, that and events the series tends to have needs a lot of localizing to pull off. It's understandable why AC New Leaf is delayed

It still shouldn't take that long. The past Animal Crossing games have also had worldwide releases, so that isn't a good excuse. This has never happened before.

Notice how there is only about a week or so difference between the EU and US releases? I think thats the reason. When Wild World came out for the DS the US version came out a few months after the Japanese one but the EU version took ages and ages. Its got French, Italian, Spanish, etc so it takes longer. If they translated all of them already then of course it takes longer.
So thats why you have to wait. Get over it.
