Another fighting game in the works at Capcom
With the updated update of Street Fighter IV in the form of Ultra Super Street Fighter IV arriving early next year, it may be hard to fathom the publisher/developer, Capcom, has another fighting title in the works.
Well, according to a recent tweet from Street Fighter executive producer, Yoshinori Ono, you better believe it, as the tweet read, “I want... no, Capcom wants Game Designer and Programmer for New Fighting Game. Its location at Tokyo or Osaka Studio.”
Naturally, no specifics are confirmed regarding the unannounced title, however Ono did laugh in reply to a response suggesting the game is Street Fighter V for the PlayStation 4. But, could it be? Let me know your thoughts, g1s, in the comments down below!
All this aside, my original point was that Capcom could go Captain Planet and make a game out of almost entirely recycled assets. With most other games C+P recycling is more scrutinized and less used. For example a new Lost Planet or Asura's Wrath would require remoldeling many environments, and maybe new characters.
Looks about the same if you count the Vita version.
Also, UMVC was a rerelease. KOF XIII wasn't.
But anyway, my point was that neither show the 4 million sales easy garunteed that Capcom really needs at the moment. I agree that they shouldn't be chasing that dragon. But they are, and this is where it led them.
Well according to VGCharts it sold four times as much as UMvC at least at that time. Also have to consider that it was free on PSPlus afterwards.
And if awards translated into sales, that would mean something. How many millions of copies did KOF 13 sell? If its anything less than 2, then you're seeing the problem.
And as I recall, it lost all those awards except Gamespots to Mortal Kombat.
Do you keep up with the times? KOF '13 won a bunch of fighting game of the year awards.
Yeah, but Capcom Vs SNK 3 would be way, WAAAAAY too niche (SNK haven't really been relevant to gaming since 2001). They need something thats cheap, simple, and will make them oodles of money.
Its not that they put a lot of Download content, its the fact that they ask you to pay for content that is already on the disk is what I found was bullshit. So your happy with paying for something twice? They can add new content through pay that's fine, I don't buy DLC anyway, but when they pull shit like that then I'll say something against it. Also the whole DmC reboot hurt them alot.
Probably their cheapest option, seeing how it is what they have the most experience with it, and they can probably re-use assets, engines, coding and such to make it. They could even do a collab like CvS3 (which would be awesome) and cut costs even more.
I just want either Plasma Sword, or Power Stone...............or Darkstalkers but we all know that's not going to happen
DO they even have the money to make a new fighting game? They're on the verge of bankruptcy, how much does a new fighting game cost?
I predict that it will be a game stuffed to the brim with Microtransactions.
Capcom vs SNK 3. What I wouldn't give for a CvS3 game done in the KOFXIII style. It makes me mouth water.
Though that being said, I remember hearing something about Rival Schools a bit back so it could be that.
Capcom VS SNK 3, Power Stone, Cyberbots, Street Fighter VS Mortal Kombat are good options for a new game.
Capcom VS SNK 3? Darkstalkers? Power Stone? Cyberbots? Street Fighter VS Mortal Kombat?
Wii U release pls
Powerstone? Darkstalkers? Another Capcom Vs? idc cause Capcom knows its fighters and i wanna see what they got in store.
Haters gonna hate. You can cry over DLC all you want but Capcom doesn't even put out more DLC then companies like THQ did where it wasn't uncommon for a game to have more DLC then the game cost new at retail price. A few extra skins isn't Capcom holding a gun to your head and demanding more money.
As far as a new fighting games goes, who knows. They need something low risk that would make them a good profit. Street Fighter is busy already, Ultra is their next big update that will change the way competitive players play the game. A Marvel crossover might be too much in licensing fees. Darkstalkers didn't make enough money to reach their impossible expectations for a new $60 game. It's hard to say what's left and what they could afford to take a chance with. At the end of the day it's probably going to be met with the same troll responses about updates to the game which they've been doing since the early 90's and this DLC thing that people assume Capcom is the very worst at. If I was the CEO of Capcom, I'd probably tell the whiners to the fuck off, thank the people who enjoyed the games, auction off the IP's, and live it up where people aren't constantly crapping on you for daring to run a business like a business as opposed to being a non profit organization devoted to bending over backwards 24/7 to attempt to please internet gamers.
It's nothing new. Just Ultra Super Street Fighter Iv: Turbo.
I mean really now, Capcom has all but slain its every major title but Street Fighter. Mega Man is in the drink, they held a pillow over Darkstalkers face, and they don't even want to make DMC anymore so they just throw that IP out on the street corner for cheap devs to pick up and use like... well yeah it's obvious already.
If it is a new title, I will be genuinely surprised. If it is just them reviving an old fighting game, then I'm all for it. Just as long as it isn't another crossover.
crapcom said last year SFxT didn't sell because there are too many fighting games. so, why they need to make more fighting games when it's too many games? i could manage crapcom better than these jokers.
