BioWare announces Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut

4/5/12 4:00pm

EA and BioWare must have gotten together after this whole “Worst Company in America” thing and decided to turn it all around. After weeks, nay months of outrage, BioWare has revealed Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, a piece of downloadable content that will make all that pain go away.

Using a series of “cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes”, the DLC will provide greater insight into the final moments of ME3. It will be coming to all platforms free of charge this summer. Here is BioWare Doctor Ray Muzyka to touch on this sensitive subject.

“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team. Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

Hopefully by balance he means we are getting an Animal House style ending. It would be totally worth it.

hey guys here the deal...the "endings" of mass effect 3 went against everything that made mass effect great in the first place ...expanding the ending DOES NOT CHANGE THE ENDING which is what we wanted!!!...they need to scrap the "endings" that casey hudson made by himself with no one to tell him he is a moron and just make three ending that are at least a decent attempt at having a three conclusions.

if titanic was a choose you own adventure type movie and everything you did had weight to it and that you were promised three endings on what you chose and at the ending jack talks to a magic polar bear about how to save the boat and the poeple and the only change in the ending was the color of the iceburg no one would be happy about that.

guys we all love mass effect we now bioware can do better we have seen it I mean look at kotor for example why did they not do that great of a job I think I know that ending was so open that it allows them to do mass effect 4...so greenbacks are the only thing EA and Bioware care about not their artistic vision...they just dont care not about you,me, or the people who like the ending they threw up at us in the first place...you want them to change for the better stop buying games from EA and Bioware then they will listen when they are getting hungry and then they will make the games that are good like before.

Hey, there's always fanfiction.net. How many different crossovers did the endings spawn?

... that is the greatest thing I've seen when it comes to complaining about the endings. This is truly an intelligent and parodic take that at EA that also gets your point across. Nice

the difference of a book ending or a movie ending or a tv ending is that we have no say...all of you like me chose different things. paragon or renagade but we did choose so why have no have a say about the ending...when the krogans were were dying I cured the genophage because I was there I made that choice because like all of you we all made our choices for ill or good and as for the mass effect end not with a bang a ending that would made mass effect one of the great games ever but with a whimper a ending that doesnt matter a ending where a fan's theory or a fanfic is better then what a team of writers can come up with...I say no the line is drawn here and I wil not cross it with my wallet to give them money just to this happen all over again no we cant let that happen they have to learn for their mistake and not for us to simply roll over and take it...dont buy games from EA and bioware no longer untill they get the message untill they know what they have done.

I don't want more bad. I want good. What does BioWare not understand?

I dont get why people wanted a new ending.. Yea the ME3 ending sucked, but they never ever should change the ending. Its their vision and they should not change their vision of what the game/storyline is because of fans. A closure/follow up thing is just what I wanted.. Now just hope the DLC doesnt suck and that is make sense of the plotholes...

I respectifully disagree. In most cases you'd be right but this time around I totally think it's different. Bioware is focusing on keeping their artistic vision and pleasing fans. Because it is just cinematics and epilogue scenes that says to me they are only explaining the ending and flashing more out about how it all ends. This is a great move in my mind and I'm happy as a writer that Bioware isn't just giving in to the hate. It is bad that they can't just let it be, but because their fans are so closely connected with the experience they created it seems fair and right in certain ways to go back and explain more. It's like when Lord of the Rings got the extended editions or movies get an alternate ending. If it's okay in the movie industry it's fine in the game industry WHEN DONE RIGHT, can't stress that lol.

Well it seemed like you were totally against the idea, but we are in agreement about how Bioware is handling the ending.
