BioWare employees reveal new Dragon Age III: Inquisition info

10/21/12 9:20am

Attendees at yesterday’s BioWare panel during the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo were the first to learn of some new details concerning Dragon Age III: Inquisition. Or perhaps I should say among the first, since producer Cameron Lee live tweeted all of the juicy deets to his 530 followers.

The first info nuggets came from cinematic designer John Perry who said DA3 has had a longer pre-production than any other BioWare project he's previously worked on. He also said, "one level in Dragon Age 3 is as big as all of Dragon Age 2's levels."

Creative director Mike Laidlaw also revealed a few details when he said the player will be a human character and that there will be more customization options in DA3 than there were DA: Origins. When asked if Flemeth would be appearing in the game, he simply grinned and said, “it feels wrong to not have a "little" Flemeth in your game.”

As far as the rest of DA3 portion of the panel goes, when asked how the developers are handling save game imports this time around, series executive producer Mark Darrah said, “we will bring choices across, we're investigating some ways without save imports.”  Lead writer David Gaider said backgrounds will not be playable but “it does significant impact on the story.

Oh and BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn also shared a piece of concept art:

What do you think g1s? Does Inquisition sound like a grand expansion? Are you excited for another journey through this dark fantasy world?

Dragon Age III: Inquisition will launch sometime the later half of 2013.

I wonder which will be better, this or Final Fantasy 13-3. My money's on the latter

I really hope this game blows everyone out of the water. I'm getting tired of Bioware games being controversial.

I think controversial is a poor choice of words here, seeing as good controversy can drive sales. Let's say the executive and directive choices in their games' development has been less than complimentary to the overall quality of the games. A bit more wordy, but I feel it's more accurate. That said, I would like to see this game do well, and not purely by a sales outlook.
