Black Ops 2 pre-orders are 10 times that of its predecessor
Last year, Modern Warfare 3 set records for being the fastest selling video game of all time. Within days of being revealed Black Ops 2 is well on its way to breaking that record. This would be the fourth consecutive time that Call of Duty would break its own record. An Amazon US representative has told GameSpot that
It seems like there is no stopping the monster that is Call of Duty, despite even us thinking the series might be due for a break. Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be coming to PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 13. We will keep you updated on Treyach’s new cold war as we get closer to its release.
Alright, after watching the interview again, it's not quite exactly like I said it was, but I will say it is close to 75% - 90% of what I claimed.
Here is the interview. Skip to the 4:00 minute mark for the part I am talking about.
Haven't heard of this.. That's actually really cool..
I demand a railgun. Don't care why or how.
I agree with your post, but I doubt it'll be read by it's intended audience. Saw a comic today about how violent video games make gamers angry and start cursing. The guy reading the article was angry and outraged so they put a ban on news reporting about gamers playing violent video games. I'll put a link if I can turn it up.
If it was Metroid Prime 4 I'd buy it day one, if it was Fear 4 I might consider buying it used somewhere down the line, but there is no way in hell I'm going to fall for the scam that is the COD series.
Fans of the COD series can have their cake and eat it, but I'd rather eat the turds that go by the names of Zelda, Ys, and Xenoblade Chronicles because I have no taste in quality games.
Again, you're calling CoD junk food. Not really wanting to argue about it, but maybe someone like me doesn't consider it junk food?
im not saying everyone is wrong im just calling them tasteless, junk food is tasty but if you eat it everyday then the nicest thing i can call you is tasteless
I HATE when people talk like that. Sure, you may not like the series, and I have honestly no problem with that. In fact, I could probably agree to a point on why you don't like it. But calling it tasteless? That's pretty much saying that everyone except you is wrong.
I pretty much agree with you Pendulum. I kinda see it like in regards to Marvel movies: I like getting forward to seeing a new Marvel superhero movie each year, and I eagerly anticipate it. I don't get bored with it, and I always hope for the details on the next one. With that said, while I think a longer development cycle could help, their customers have helped them build up the steam they now have, and stopping it would be both bad for the franchise and bad for business (they aren't greedy enemies, but they ARE running a business that is proving fruitful).
Besides, I've kinda chosen to only stick with the Treyarch CoD's, so I get two years out of it, but I don't have worry over when they are going to make the next one.
Pretty much agree with you on this one.
Neither am I, I too see a lot of shortcomings that the series has. However, for someone who doesn't tend to buy every single game out there, a game like this that almost has a guaranteed multiplayer base has it's appeal in my case, but that's pretty much because I like the multiplayer aspect of gaming, and for some odd reason I can typically keep up in a match of CoD.
well this just proves it, people are tasteless; way to stick to ur guns internet
Gave enough of a fuck to open a new story about it AND post a dumb ass comment
To be honest the way I think the cod fanbase works is they are not tired of a yearly release, to them they like getting something new every year, and to be honest cod is mainly known for multiplayer and while people play it for the campaign and this new game shows, the people that play it like having new stuff, not playing the same maps over and over. While the older games have a decent population that will still play it, thats not the case for other gaming franchise such as Halo, By year 3 and after reach the game was not the same in numbers. I think they do this to avoid loss of intrust. While this might have the oppisite effect on non fans thats not who there catering to. And to be honest since there is two studios it would be nice for them to release a cod game every other year so they could have a 4 year development time. But the problem is cod is so popular that changing it like this might not be the best thing, activision has a good thing going and trying to derail the train and change might have backlash . They have people that buy there games every year in high numbers for them to take a break would not be a good business move since cod is the top shooter. In a way I get what you saying but cod is to popular and successful that it can not switch now. When it looses a good amount of steam then I see it happening.
PS you said "The developers have more time to add more things and polish existing content, while gamers get to enjoy a better game and save money." This is not always true, and there are plenty of examples. Though I wish the statement was 100% true that would of saved so many games.
While I am interested in this new Call of Duty, I'm curious on how this game can get numbers like that. I thought by now, everybody would've been bored of it and moved on to the next fad. While the Call of Duty games are fun in their own right, the games are released so close to each other that there's not enough room to add enough new and interesting things. Granted, the games are made two different studios who switch out every year, but regardless, I really think it'd be a turn for the better if Activision slowed down the release of Call of Duty games. The developers have more time to add more things and polish existing content, while gamers get to enjoy a better game and save money.
Unlike the mass majority of the Internet, I don't want to see Call of Duty die. I just want it to rest for a little bit.
COD isnt the Satan of games it is just funny uncle of the gaming family everyone likes him when he first comes, but after awhile people get bored and annoyed of him until the next year and then the cycle starts again
Beginning part is a response to Lipnox88 and at some point its not directed to just you. Your comment makes no sense how is this activisions fault? What you want is government regulated games. Right now we have the esrb, but a stupid parent can buy there kid an M rated game. My point is why do you hate on Activision and Call of Duty for something else thats been a problem in gaming since the 90s. But then again you must of started playing games recently since you never heard of Mortal Combat, or the GTA scandal. No Kids play call of duty "that's bad", personally all these so called gamers or retro gamers that hate COD or Activision can just leave this hobby. Sorry but stupid hate is not really smart. You are not cool, hating the first 3rd party developer and saying there game is responsible for the worst things in gaming makes you seem stupid. Because when you say that a game can cause people to act a certain way and its not the competitive factor and there personalities then we do need regulations. What was it I heard in a old Nintendo Power article in the 90s,oh gamers asking Nintendo if they would make any mature games, saying that it would please there older audience and younger aged kids would buy it due to them thinking it was cool and mature. And thats whats going on with kids now, they think FPS are mature the adult only type, so to them its cool. As for the game never changing well there making efforts now and a new one every year is needed when they sell like hot cakes. Sorry but just because you and others hate the game that does not mean it needs to go away, honestly you morons could never run a business, if the games are still received as good and people except the yearly model and it out does previous sells then why stop. Activision is a business, but to entitled idiots that hate for no actual reason they say there greedy. When did the gaming community become stupid? Sorry but is the goal of a businesses is not to be successful or make money then what is it, Listen to hate only? If so Nintendo should not even be around due to the hardcore demanding them to stop with all the Wii hate and same game hate too. This is why I hated Bobs Game Over Thinker Episode on COD he blamed Realism and bad attitude on it. And that not right that the players and children that think there playing an adults game are at fault. And so are the developers trying to copy its success but thats nothing new in this industry. Honestly that really irritated me when he said that is was the worst thing in gaming pretty much. All he's doing is following a retro stereotype that hates on FPS and Modern. He is not the first this been over done already. And while I do own most the Call Of Duty games I barely play them and got them because of my friends. But I don't hate them there good games. The Hate for COD and WOW needs to stop as well as genre hate. Why should gamers be taken serious if the older crowd blindly hates stuff and looks like children. Or even the so called hardcore crowd bashing casual or a game trying to get new people. Also including retro gamers bashing current gen. And while most read this will disagree with what I say next I believe 90% of gamers whether they like it or not are what ruining gaming's image with there fan bases by being this way. And that applies to all fan base current and retro. And here is a thing people forget when they voice there hate who is forcing you to buy the game? Your hate is on success that's it. I know this was long but reading generic hate comments gets to you after awhile.
10 times more retards buying it and I still give zero fucks.
I'm one to talk, I've liked the games since Call of Duty 2, and I'll inevitably get a copy.
But I'm not the crowd that thinks Call of Duty is the best thing since sliced bread.
