Editor’s Note: Other personal favorites of mine include Brazil, Hook, Nixon, and Unleashed. Definitely check out Unleashed if you haven’t yet. Not only is Bob Hoskins the perfect villain, but it is probably Jet Li’s strongest performance as an actor. Best wishes on your retirement Bob.

In news that'll shock a lot of us, actor Bob Hoskins was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last autumn. Despite this news, he was still doing some film work, but via his agent, Bob Hoskins has decided to retire from acting as of yesterday.

"Bob Hoskins wishes to announce that he will be retiring from acting, following his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease last autumn. He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career. Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time."

Bob's most well known roles was playing Super Mario in the Mario Bros movie and playing Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. Hoskins also was in The Long Good Friday, Mona Lisa, and his most recent film with Snow White and the Huntsman.

It's sad to see Bob Hoskins retire, but I'd like to wish him the best of luck during his retirement.
