The folks at the Nintendo owned studio Brownie Brown (of Mother 3 fame) have announced the company is currently undergoing a few changes. One of which is the changing of its rather peculiar name. So let us all say good bye to Brownie Brown and give a warm welcome to 1-UP Studio!
Why did the studio decide to (in the words of its representatives) “turn a new leaf”? Well, this slight shake-up is one of a few changes that are currently happening from within the studio to make it a better fit for Nintendo.
"Since the production of Super Mario 3D Land in 2011, we have been collaborating with Nintendo and recently, regarding this partnership, we have decided to change the company structure so we can better focus on it."
What could this quote mean? My guess is with the success of SM3DL, 1-UP will be focusing less on collaborations with outside developers and publishers (like Square Enix and Level-5 for example) to work more closely with the main office. Perhaps on some more Mario games?
Although another “Big N” subsidiary team-up with Hal-Laboratory wouldn’t be too bad of an idea either. ;) ;)

Exiting news. Brownie Brown has pretty much done jack shit since Mother and most of those didn't even come to the west and so its good they are getting restructured as it means they are finally going to do something. I love the studio and so this is, to me, kind of like someone saying "the F-zero development team was restructured to better suit Nintendos needs". In other words the announcement itself is secondary to the implied announcement: 1-up studios is going to be working on some games shortly and I am exited about that!

Jack shit? What about Mario 3D Land? That made them more money than they ever had before probably.
Metroidvania98
That was made by Tokyo development group #2 of Nintendo EAD with some assistance by Brownie Brown. They did not actually make the game.

I know, but that's something
