Capcom's Resident Evil 6 Mercenaries Mode... Gets day one DLC

4/12/12 8:00pm

I know I have two blogs on Capcom this month all ready but I need to tell you all about this... but as you can see from the title of the blog, Resident Evil 6 has day one DLC... On Mercenaries Mode making you pre order the game THREE TIMES! Capcom Unity detailed besides the day one DLC to a Mode A Lot of Resident Evil Fans love but there will be a "Resident Evil 6 SKU" Version on the PC but here is what you'll be getting on RE6 for pre-orders.

For GameStop pre-order you'll receive The Catacombs an area that's filled with traps.

The pre-order from Amazom gives you The High Seas Fortress Map where you are on an Aircraft Carrier.

Finally Best Buy's pre-order is the Rail Ray Map where you get a subway to fight in.

What do the g1s think on Capcom's decision to lock maps to The Mercenaries mode in RE6 for day one DLC?

There's a typo in this: it should say "Merchenaries." http://kotaku.com/5901722/with-every-new-resident-evil-comes-a-new-typo

shouldn't the title be called RE6 gets pre-order bonuses because well you know the other maps where you didn't pre-order it aren't going to be available right away?

When you release a game that's going to be the same price at every retailer that sells it, it only makes sense that different retailers have different pre-order bonuses so there's at least some competition as to where you buy the game. If retailers can't lower the price of the game to compete with other retailers, what can they do to better hope you come to them rather then their competition? This is not day one DLC like me3 where your paying an additional amount of money for extra content upon it's release. Your helping retailers know how many copy's they should order by pre-ordering and your supporting the people who make the game by buying it new. These will come out later as DLC most likely but through the eyes of a business that's selling the same product as several other businesses, it makes sense.

This story needs to be reworded.

No. This is a case of excluding content to make it dlc, making that dlc pre-order only, and making that dlc only available from three different stores so when Capcom gives you the option of buying what will likely already be on your disk you have to buy two to three different maps for additional money in an attempt to exclude content for more money. This article doesn't need to be reworded, you just don't like that Capcom's own business practices present themselves in a bad light, the only people that should do something about that are Capcom.

I don't know why people are bitching... It's a preorder bonus, we don't have to pay for one of them. But, everybody clicked their heels together for that ridiculus Call of Duty advantage program. -_-

I personally don't bitch at this that much, but some of these maps looks really fun, and if we can't have them unless we pre-order, we simply can't be a part of the fun. That's my main problem about it, along Capcom keep doing this all the time.

I hope the stages will be released as DLC later.

I hope they do too. I kind of want the subway level, reminds me of RE Outbreak a little. But, it's not just Capcom; every developer that releases DLC does the same thing. Development is becoming more and more expensive while the price of games stay the same. I can't say I blame them, ya know?

The Legend of Zelda for the NES back in 1987 cost 50 dollars in the US.

Fairly certain they won't say 'no' to that DLC money.
