Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie Coming To DVD & Blu-Ray In 2014!!!
Hello Screwattack community!
I am here today with some really, really good news. Fans of the 90's classic anime Cardcaptor Sakura have been waiting for a company to renew the license for this series. The majority of fans from numerous blog sites wanted this series re-released and re-dubbed so we can redeem ourselves from the god-awful Nelvana dub code named Cardcaptors. even if that may not happen, the bottom line is that we wanted the series to be brought back on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Through multiple attempts to convince American anime distribution companies like Funimation to bring it back, it seemed like no one was going to do it......until now.
Announced on Tuesday July 16th 2013, Discotek Media is releasing the first Cardcaptor Sakura movie on DVD & Blu-Ray in 2014, not only to re-release it for the film's 15th anniversary, but to also inspire hope for an eventual TV series pick-up. As a Cardcaptor Sakura fan myself, this is a miracle.
Many comments posted to their Facebook page have been extremely positive and supportive, with people constantly thanking them and many already prepared to purchase the film. I myself couldn't be happier.
Among Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie, Discotek Media has also gained the rights to release on DVD & Blu-Ray: Lily Cat, Jin-Roh, Devilman, Great Teacher Onizuka, Cutie Honey, Dallos, Captain Harlock, Dr. Slump Movies 1-5, Samurai Pizza Cats, Gunbusters 2, Monster Rancher, Lovely Complex, Mighty Space Miners, the Saint Seiya films, and even the entire Megaman TV series.
All or most of the out of print and discontinued classics and fan favorites in anime are finally coming back. Discotek Media is a great gift that keeps on giving. and as one person put it, "Discotek: continuing to do the REAL WORK in anime licensing in America."
Check out their Facebook page or their main website for more updates on future classic anime re-releases. Please support their 2014 re-release of the first Cardcaptor Sakura film and keep our fingers crossed that if the first film sells, then the entire TV series, the second film, and maybe the 3 OVA episodes will follow.
2013 is the year where classics keep coming back. From Toonami, to Killer Instinct, to Whose Line Is It Anyway? on the CW, and now Cardcaptor Sakura. if these old classics can keep coming back even after 20 years, then nothing is impossible.
