Club Nintendo Platinum Gifts revealed, then removed

7/6/12 8:00pm

UPDATE: For some strange reason the gift were taken down, and the page is now empty, I'll update later if the gifts change.

Club Nintendo is a rewards program for all the Nintendo games you buy and register, and every year if you reach a Elite Status either Gold or Platinum you get to receive a gift for your loyalty.

Gold users get to choose between the usual Calendar, Super Mario Kart, Metroid 2, Mario vs DK: Minis March Again! or Zelda: Majora's Mask, and for those that reached Platinum you can pick  a set of Platinum Mario Playing Cards or a Limited Edition Platinum Poster Set.

Remember that you have until  July 31 to redeem the gift, so what do you g1s think of the rewards? Did any of you reached Platinum?

But you know, the more I start to think about it, the amount of people in the beginning of Club Nintendo compared to the amount of people today is considerably larger, so it kinda makes sense. But that's still no excuse to get lazy and give us cards or posters.

This is a fuckin joke! I mean, my god were they lazy. Four of them are virtual console games for pete's sake. The calender is here every year, so it's fine. But the Platinum Rewards are piss poor. First we get a rubber statue of the Mario characters. It's rubber and cheap, but the detail and the fact that it exists is what made me want to get it. Then we got the buttons. 25 buttons weren't as cool as the statue, but the presentation and boxing was what made it worth it, plus I love wearing the buttons. But a deck of cards, 3 posters, what? If I ever want to play cards, I'd use a regular deck of cards, and as for the posters, they are just pieces of paper with designs on them. Even the presentation value is lacking. Why do the japanese get an 8-bit pillow of Mario and we get a deck of cards or posters? What's next years? Keychains?

I agree... Where's my Mario pillow??? Where's my Wii SNES controller??? This is the first time I've reached Platinum and I'm thoroughly disappointed. It's 'almost as if the U.S. isn't important to them. Same kind of thing with the Mario anniversary collections. U.S. got a bunch of crap content while everyone else got special stuff.

I didn't reach platinum this year, but that's ok. It seems like the rewards this year aren't that impressive anyway.

I didn't have any of these choices... Also, look at this cool confirmation: Your Elite Status Reward will be distributed before the end of December, 2012.

Awesome.
