Editor's Note: Respawn has confirmed Jason West's departure in a blog post.

According to recent reports and sources close to the company, co-founder Jason West has left Respawn Entertainment.

While the studio itself has yet to issue a statement for West's departure, the unofficial reason appears to be related to family issues. Also reported was the remaining co-founder, Vince Zampella, will now become the sole acting boss of the studio.

Reports also stated that the decision to leave had been in the process for a while and West himself was not in an active role to the current projects being worked on at the studio. None of the current projects being developed are expected to be delayed or impacted by his departure.

Both West and Zampella founded Respawn Entertainment in 2010 after separating from Infinity Ward due to the legal mess involving Activision and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 at the time.
