A Conversation with Hideo Kojima at GameFest

3/25/12 9:20pm
tl;dr

When Hideo Kojima speaks to you, you will listen, and you will be enlightened.

The man, the myth, the legend, Hideo Kojima. During this panel, we learn about how he really got his start into the video game business and what his motivation/inspiration came from (and it's an interesting one for sure), methodology of his design, the advantages of being the producer of his projects in addition of being the director, his passions outside of game design, and a very small glimpse of what he has in store for us in the future.

Out of all the GameFest videos, this one I am most proud of to share with you. Please enjoy and watch it to the very end.

Sorry about that, they were playing "Discovered" from MGS1 on the PA while Chris was talking and the mic on the camcorder didn't pick it up at all. I figured I better put some music in there, so "Metal Gear Saga" went in it's place. If I lowered the volume of it any lower for the music, you wouldn't have been able to hear it at all.

There is a reason I follow him on twitter.

It was the darnest thing, all last Friday I kept seeing pictures on his Twitter feed saying "Cherry Blossoms" and a picture of cherry blossoms "The Capital" and a picture of the Capital Building and then it hit me "He's in Washington DC........HE'S GOING TO BE AT THE OPENING OF THE EXHIBIT!"

Up until then I wasn't planning on going opening weekend because of the chance of massive crowds, but when A-list industry LEGENDS show up, I cleared my schedule and went with my hands over my head screaming. I ALMOST didn't get in to this, I thank my lucky stars that I did.

Kojima looks like he doesn't age.

Kojima, Keanu Reeves and Will Smith must know the secret to immortality. They don't appear to age at all.

The man is 50 years old and doesn't look any worse for wear and if you've seen his Twitter account he eats like a goddamn king when he travels. DOES NOT COMPUTE!

I know right, it's EERIE! Same thing with Miyamoto, I saw him in DC back in 2004 and he doesn't look a day older either!
