Cover of the next Game Informer issue reveals Gears of War: Judgement

6/2/12 9:00am

Gears of Wars: Exile … is still not happening. However, that doesn’t mean Cliffy B and the rest of the Epic Games crew don’t have a Gears of War game in the works. In fact a brand new entry in the series dubbed, Gears of War: Judgement will be revealed during Microsoft’s E3 press conference on Monday.

How do I know this? Well, a full write up about the game will just so happen to be the cover story for the July issue of Game Informer and the folks at GI were just a tad too excited to wait until Monday to show off the sweet cover art.

On the cover, Delta Squad member (and full-time wise-ass) Damon Baird is being lead away in hand-cuffs by CoG troops, with a horde of Locust preparing a sneak attack on the back of the magazine. Oh and there will also be an alternate cover, in which his squad mate (and Thrashball legend) “Cole Train” is dealing with the same situation.

In other Judgement related news, IGN is reporting that an anonymous source has told them the game will take place 14 years before the original Gears of War, with the plot revolving around Baird, Cole, and their Kilo Squad mates Garron and Sofia.

According to the source, Kilo Squad has been accused of treason because they have stolen equipment, disobeyed orders from their superiors, and put millions of innocent civilians at risk.

That’s all we know about Gears of War: Judgement at this point, but with the promise of a reveal trailer debuting at E3, we’re bound to know plenty more come Monday.

So this would make it 3 out of 4 Gears games that involve someone being arrested in the main group. Gears 1 & 3 started with Marcus in jail and now this game has Cole and Baird arrested.

Then again I think Baird was arrested as well by Locust forces in Gears 2.

This is a game that should have been pushed for the next-gen Xbox.

A generic title, two very annoying characters and Microsoft revealing a somewhat "interesting" title just a few days before their conference in E3 to make sure that they can focus more on Kinect crap? Makes sense Microsoft.

Annoying characters? Baird and Cole are probably the fan favorites. And generic? Cmon. I highly disagree with the game that started the cover based shooter revolution to be generic.

I meant the title as in the name. Judgement. I actually like Gears of War except for those two characters.
