While speaking to The Guardian, creative director behind Need For Speed Most Wanted ,Craig Sullivan, announced that Criterion and himself will be developing another installment to the insane driving series that is Burnout...
"There's still a lot of stuff we want to do with driving. We will make another Burnout game at some point. Obviously, as we're working on NFS we're thinking of really good ideas that aren't right for this series; there are ideas that we're going to explore with Burnout. And we wont be making NFS or Burnout games if we didn't think the driving genre had a long shelf life and that we could push the boundaries."
Criterion's most recent Burnout game was Burnout Paradise back in 2008, however the developers also took on the downloadable market with 2011's Burnout Crash. As of now, Criterion is finishing up Need For Speed Most Wanted, which is set to hit store shelves on October 30
Sullivan also spoke on Criterion's future saying that the studio might step away from the racing genre, and take a look into developing shooting games. But a new Road Rash game seems more likely...
"We might make a Road Rash game... But then we might make a game without vehicles in it. I mean we made Black, I was the lead designer' we might make a game about blowing the crap out of each other. But Road Rash seems like a good fit for Criterion..."
Back in 2009 publisher, Electronic Arts, re-trademarked Road Rash, however EA hasn't announced anything yet.
