Snake, Drake, and Cole confirmed to be lending voices to Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

tl;dr

Eric Ladin, voice of Cole Mcgrath, has confirmed in a Tweet the project he is working on is indeed Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, and that he in fact is working alongside David Hayter and Nolan North, the voices of Solid Snake and Nathan Drake, respectively.

Ah, Twitter. How many secrets game studios and publishers wanted to keep hidden away have you thrust into the internet’s cold, judgmental view? A recent (well, it would have been recent if the site was up) tweet from Eric Ladin, voice actor for Cole McGrath, the hero of inFAMOUS, has confirmed that he is in fact working on PSASBR. The Tweet has since been taken down, but luckily, IGN has a screengrab.

In addition, he has said that he is working alongside Nolan North; voice of Deadpool, The Penguin, the Space Core and Nathan Drake, and David Hayter; voice of Solid Snake, Old Snake, Big Boss, and little else. Of course, these characters were already known to be inevitable – you couldn’t exactly have a celebration of the Playstation without Drake and Snake – but still, it’s nice to see a confirmation.

However, what’s more interesting is the fact that Ladin himself knew about the other two. Traditionally, videogame voice acting is done in a solo affair, with recordings done around scheduling conflicts, meaning parts can be recorded days apart. For a fighting game, doubly so – generally speaking, a voice actor would only need to say their characters dozen or so lines, their 30 or so variations on a grunt, and then be out of there.

Voice actors would generally only interact if their characters would interact in a unique and meaningful way – does this indicate actual unique interactions between these characters? Possibly in say, a storyline where they encounter each other and use it as a means of self analysis and deconstruction? Hey man, I live in hope.

So Snake is in yet another brawler?

Why not? Kratos has been in three.

A brawler is a game where your goal is to knock your opponents off stage. This is Kratos' first in reality.

No, cause its not a brawler - remember, the aim of this game is not to knock people off the side, as that doesn't do shit. The only way to kill people in this is the super-move.

*shrugs* Maybe it's a tweaked brawler.

Tweaked enough that it no longer has any similariity to the original objective? Bit of a stretch.

How do you define a game where the only way to succeed is through the use of special moves? Apart from Soul Calibur.

I wouldn't be surprised. Snake has a bit of a history with Sony consoles. It's only natural that they would want to include him.

But yeah, seeing Snake in another game of this type...
