David Perry wants to make a new Earthworm Jim
Good to know that we're not the only ones who have not forgotten about Earthwrom Jim. His original creator, David Perry, would like to see him return. It's not so much "if" Jim returns, but "when".
"It's just a bunch of guys who all have their own thing. Everyone has their own company. So, to get them to stop what they're doing and work on a game is very difficult, but it's something they all want to do. We've been having this discussion: when will this happen? When could we do it? What would make sense?" says Perry.
As it's all the rage, a Kickstarter idea was tossed to Perry, and he had some choice words for that. "We feel the Kickstarter thing would have been fun just to see how much money could be raised out of a Kickstarter, because we would have put a lot of effort into the video, for example. It's one of those things that, no one's got the time right now. I'm sure it's going to happen, I just can't tell you exactly when."
Eurogamer has a huge interview with him. He talks more about how he would make it a 2D game, some tension with other developer friends, and
I hope Earthworm Jim gets kickstarted. Take all my money David Perry!!
if he makes it 2d that would be one of the best sequels any game developer makes. (making sequels that look like originals is a great idea imo)
What makes you think that would happen?
Doug and Dave created Jim together (I honestly learned that right after looking it up after this news post because I thought exactly the same thing).
I had the unexpected pure joy of meeting Doug at the San Diego Comic-Con (who by the way is incredibly tall!) and couldn't help but ask him about Jim's future, and he said that he and many others would love to, but apparently whoever currently owns the right to the franchise, quote: "is being a dick." If Kickstarter were an option here, though, you better believe I'd plunk down some cash to bring Jim back. Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 on the SNES are my favorite video games of all time! (I'd have Jim as my avatar on Screwattack, but Mega Man Classic lasted waaaaaaaaay longer, and I think you can figure out which Robot Master rocked my favorite 8-bit rock tune of all...)
Yes, yes, yes and yes.
I dunno... I've been debating whether or not to revive old franchises or not. I mean yeah sure a new Earthworm Jim that's exactly like the original except in HD would be nice. I'd rather not see Earthworm Jim turn into a multiplayer FPS.
And yet another one of the games from screwattack's top 10 games that needs to made comes to pass. NOW IF ONLY WE COULD GET KILLER INSTINCT 3!!!!
This NEEDS! to happen, please....
I am literally made out of patience. When they have the time and resources, they should make the game. Just.... For the love of god...... Do these things for me: 1. Make it a 2-D side scrolling platformer 2. Do not try to shoe-horn in some kind of story that nobody will care about. It's a worm with a space suit fighting a villain. Simple. 3. SOLID controls. 4. I want to launch a cow.
I really hope they make a new game and
I'm glad am not the only one.
Does the article end at "and", or is that just me?
Isn't Doug TenNapel his creator?
This reminds me to make a quick blog...
That would be awesome we need more classic games to return and earthworm jim is definitely one that should make a return.
I approve of this
I was just thinking about this today
Must have Tommy Tallarico doing music! This must happen! I love EWJ!
And what jared? And what? I'm dying to know. XD. A new earthworm Jim would be sweet by the way. :)
