Day Z developer confirms standalone version is in development
Day Z has become the ultimate simulation of a zombie apocalypse, but it still isn’t its own game, it is a mod of ARMA II. But thanks to the studio behind ARMA II, that is no longer the case, as it has been revealed that Day Z will become its own game. Rocket, leader of the Day Z team, has been pulled into Bohemia Interactive and will become the game’s project lead.
With over 1 million players already playing the mod, expect more developments on the mod itself as the game begins to evolve. Tune into the new official site for Day Z here, on Twitter here, or check out ScrewAttack for more updates.

I'm not one for realistic shooters, especially in a survival horror setting, but strength to the Day Z team for taking a mod and making it into a money maker. They deserve all the cash they get from this.

Lots of people say that video games of today aren't what they used to be. Awesome mods turn ideas into their own games; this couldn't have ever happened before the internet!
