Rules of Death Battle
Sheena is a skilled fighter from the hidden ninja village of Mizou and blessed with the unique ability to form summoning packs with her worlds summon spirits. During her childhood her elders attempted to make her embrace this special ability by forming a pact with the summon spirit of lightning Volt. Unfortunately this attempt ended in disaster, when Volt refused to make a pact with her and killed a quarter of Mizou's population out of rage. Years later Sheena was commissioned by the rulers of her planet, to assassinate a girl known as Collete, who was living in a parallel dimension called Sylvarant. Believing this mission would help protect her own dimension and bring her redemption among the Mizou citizens, Sheena hesitantly accepted. Unfortunately Sheena's conscience got in the way when she met Colette face to face, and she eventually chose to abandon her mission and join Colette, rather than assassinate her. This decision was not without repercussions though, as Sheena's contact with Colette got her roped into a larger series of world threatening events. Sheena is described as strong-willed and hot blooded character, but lacking in confidence due to her traumatic experiences with the summon spirit volt as a child.
Yuna is a summoner from the world of Spira and hopes to rid her world of terrible monster known as sin, by following the teachings of yevon and going on a long spiritual journey called the pilgrimage. Over the course of this journey Yuna hoped to gather the power of several powerful entities known as aeons, and use their collective power to defeat sin once and for all. Unfortunately for Yuna her pilgrimage also required great self-sacrifice and her suffering often made the people around her incredibly worried for her well-being. In particular a boy named Tidus became particularly close to Yuna, and his influence eventually caused Yuna to question the morality of the teachings of yevon, its leaders and the true meaning behind her pilgrimage. Eventually this faith in yevon was completely shattered when Yuna discovered the hypocrisy yevons teachings and the futility of her pilgrimages goals. Yuna was originally very soft spoken and naive, but over the course of her journey became significantly more outspoken and developed a slightly eccentric personality.
Sheen fights using a pair of magically infused seals that are capable of preforming decent melee damages and offensive/supportive spells. Sheena can use these seals to decrease an enemy’s defense, offense, evasion, or even bind them in place for short periods of time. These seals can also play a supportive role, allowing Sheena to heal physical wounds, increase her defense and infuse her attacks with elemental attributes like fire or earth.
Yuna has used several different weapons over the years, but her most commonly used weapon is probably the Spira’s hope staff. Like all staffs, Spira's hope helps Yuna channel her magical powers and makes her casting time much more efficient. Yuna also has secondary weapons call the tiny bee, which are twin pistols capable of shooting mystical and enchanted ammunition at an enemy.
Like most RPG characters Sheena wears a full set of armor and accessories during her battles. The Kannazuki armor increases Sheena’s defense against wind attacks. The star bracelet increases Sheena's defense against fire attacks. The Yasakani Jewel prevents all statues ailments and the elemental circlet increases her defense against all elemental attacks.
Yuna is not well known for wearing a vast amount of heavy armor, but is still commonly seen wearing protective rings, bracelets and lightweight accessories. The holy ring grants Yuna immunity to all forms of statues ailments. The force of nature accessory allows her to absorb elemental attacks and add an elemental affect to all her attacks. Finally the star bracelet envelopes Yuna in a constant Reflect spell, which reflects magic back to the opponent.
While the technique was never perfected, Sheena has shown the ability to absorb the energy from her summon spirits and release it in the form of an energy beam. The exact power of this beam is debatable, but it has been shown to be strong enough to destroy mutated trees several times Sheena’s own size.
While Sheena was originally terrified of the summon spirits and their power, Colette and her friends eventually managed to give Sheena enough self-confidence and the bravery to attempt making a summoning pact again. Since then Sheena has traveled the world and has successfully made a summoning pacts with almost all the summon spirits living in both Sylvarant and tethe'alla. Each summon spirit is bound to Sheena’s will and must follow her orders Regardless of what kind of support she asks for. It is also important to note that Sheena can clearly summon several of her spirits at the same time is she chooses to (not having the limits that summon characters in other games often do).
Yuna does not know any offensive black magic spells, but does excel extensively in the field of white magic. Curaga heals a significant portion of Yuna's health. Regen allows her to regenerate health slowly overtime. Protect increases her physical defense. Dispel cancels out a positive status buffs. Shell increases her magical defense. Reflect sends a single magic spell back at the opponent. Holy deals massive holy damage to an enemy and null spells can cancel out a single water, fire, ice or electric move.
Aeons are the physical manifestations of the souls of handpicked people called fayths and can be summoned in two distinctive ways. The first summoning method fully summons the aeons entire entire body to the battle field, allowing it to move around unrestricted and attack with powerful attacks called overdrive attacks(which need to be charged over long periods of time)In the second summoning method, Yuna will partially summon a aeon's body to the field. In this method only specific limbs of an aeon will appear on the battle field, and the aeon will only perform a single attack, before disappearing several seconds later. Partially summoning aeons allows Yuna to move around unrestricted, but will prevent her aeons from acting on their own. Aeons that are partially summoned also need to directly powered by Yuna’s own energy when using special attacks(which are all variations of their overdrive attacks).Unlike Sheena, Yuna actually does seem to have a limit on how many aeons she can have on the battlefield at one time. Yuna can only fully summon one aeon to the battle field at a time, or can partially summon two aeons at the same time.
Yuna's ultimate attack summons each of her aeons in quick succession and has them unleash each all their ultimate attacks on an opponent at once. The attack ends in a giant explosion that completely envelopes an enemy in spiritual energy called pyreflyies.
Efreet is the summon spirit of fire and is opposed by the summon spirit of ice Celsius. Efreet attacks mainly with a mix of physical punches and fire based magic. The flames of destruction attack, allows Efreet to grab an opponent and engulf them in a concentrated explosion of fire. He also has an attack called burst fall, where he will slam his fist into the ground and create explosions of fire. Finally the eruption, raging mist, explosion and inferno limited spells, each create large eruptions of fire and heat that cover large areas and burn enemies alive. Like many summon spirits Efreet can also fly and increases one of Sheena's base stats (her attack power).
Undine is the summon spirit of water and is opposed by the summon spirit of lightning volt. Her main method of attack is a powerful water based spell called spread, which creates large torrents of water that shoot up from the ground and damage enemies. She also possesses a secondary water spell called aqua edge, where she creates flying blades of water that impale enemies on contact. Finally she has large water like sword, she will use on enemies for melee damage if they come within range. Undine cannot increase Sheena’s base stats, but can heal her physical wounds.
The Sylph represent the element of wind and are opposed by the summon spirit of earth, gnome. Unlike other summon spirits, the sylph are actually comprised of 3 separate beings instead of one. Sephie is the leader of the 3 and focuses on offensive sword attacks and the wind spells like wind blade and rising wind (which makes blades of wind and a giant torrent of wind). Yutis focuses on support and uses a bow for long range attacks like wind arrow and split arrow (an arrow imbued with wind power and quick succession of dozens of arrows). Finally Fairess acts as the team’s defense with a strong mix of defensive shield attacks and more powerful magic like air thrust and wind blade .(Both which are similar to blades of wind).
Luna is the summon spirit of light and prefers to use long range attacks like, photon, ray, limited ray and lunatic., with some physical strikes from her staff. The Photon spell creates sphere of light energy that engulfs agencies and explodes after a few seconds. Limited ray calls down large columns of light that impale enemies. Lunatic calls down pulsing columns of light radially around her at burn enemies and finally ray releases angled beams of burning light, the shoot from a single concentrated point. In addition to these attacks, Luna also has the ability to teleport.
Gnome is the summon spirit of earth and is opposed by the summon spirits of wind, sylph. During a fight, Gnome uses his giant shovel as a melee weapon, and will also perform body slams with his large body. He has access to several earth spells, including stone blast, stalagmite and ground dasher. Stone blast creates a small blast of rocks the fly through the air and crash into enemies. Stalagmite raises a large spire of rocks from the ground that impale enemies on contact and ground dasher makes a torrent of stalagmites raise from the ground and tear enemies to shreds. Gnome can also increase Sheena’s defense.
Celsius is the summon spirit of ice and fights many with martial art inspired physical attacks, often infused with trace amounts of ice magic. She summons icebergs from the sky, in the middle of physical attacks to deal extra damage and has access to the spells freeze lancer and ice tornado. Freeze lancer launches a group of icicles at an enemy at high speeds and ice tornado creates a vortex of ice that engulfs enemies and tears them apart. Celsius can also increase Sheena's accuracy.
Volt is the summon spirit of lightning and is opposed by the summon spirit of water, Undine. Volt attacks his enemies with bolts of electricity that he emits from his body or calls from the sky. He can create larger blast of electricity with the spell spark wave move and can even summon electrical swords with the spell thunder blade spell. Volt also has the ability to heal Sheena's status ailments.
Maxwell is the summon spirit of birth and the lord of the other major elements. In battle Maxwell uses his staff as a melee weapon, and uses the edges of his saucer like a giant buzz saw. Maxwell also has access to several powerful spells, including thunder arrow, raging mist, gravity well, dreaded wave and meteor storm. Thunder arrow traps an enemy in a triangular prison of electric energy, and rains down electric bolts on them. Raging mist creates a cloud of incredibly hot steam that burns enemies alive. Gravity well creates a large bubble of energy that crushes enemies with intense gravitic pressure. Dreaded wave creates a localized earthquake around an enemies and meteor storm summons dozens of meteors from the sky that fall all enemies and explode on contact. Maxwell also increases Sheena's magical defense.
Origin is the king of all summon spirits and the most powerful summon Sheena has at her disposal. Origin uses a mix of sword attacks and powerful magical attacks to take down his opponents. Earth bite creates a burst of electric and earth energy around an opponent. Absolute freezes an enemy in a large spire of ice, that explodes seconds later causing further damage. Spiral flare creates a large tornado of fire that engulfs enemies and burns them alive. Thunder arrow traps an enemy and strikes them with electricity and finally Rameesh rains giants bolts of lightning down on an enemy.
Valefor is the first aeon Yuna obtains in FFx and is well known for its flying ability and swift speed. Valefor's sonic wings attack sends shock waves at an enemy that cause massive damage and stuns them for several seconds. Valefor has two overdrive attacks, energy ray and energy blast. Energy ray fires a beam of energy under an enemy that explodes and deals non elemental damage and energy blast shoots several energy beams directly at the enemy that cut them apart.
Ifrit was first obtained by Yuna at the kilika temple and fights primarily with his giant claws and fire based magic. He has an attack called meteor strike, where he will conjure boulders in midair and propel them at the enemy at high speeds. His overdrive attack is hellfire, where he will engulf an enemy in a ball of flame and throw a giant chunk of earth at them in midair. Ifrit also knows the spells null-fire and null-frost, which nullify a single fire and ice spell respectively. Ifrit absorbs all fire based attacks, but is incredibly weak against ice based attacks.
Ixion is a lightening based aeon with a high magical and physical defense. Ixion's special move is aerospark, where he will fire two electrical disks at an enemy and electrocute them. Ixion's overdrive attack is thor's hammer, where Ixion will shoot electrical energy at an enemy, trap them in ball of energy and finish them off with a single decisive strike of electricity. Ixion can also be healed by electrical attacks, but is weak against water attacks.
Sheva is an ice based aeon and has the highest agility among Yuna's summons. The heavenly strike attack summons a spire of ice from the sky that falls on enemies and impales them. The diamond dust overdrive creates a blizzard that engulfs enemies, encases them in ice and explodes after a few seconds. Sheva also can cast several blizzard spells and absorb all ice based attacks. Sheva is weak against fire.
Bahamut is one of the most powerful summons Yuna can wield and represents the representation of all collective fayth. His special attack is impulse, where he will summon several orbs of energy the fly towards foes and explode on contact. His overdrive attack is called mega flare, where he will shoot a giant beam of energy out of his mouth and completely tear enemies apart.
Yojimbo is a unique aeon, as he does not directly follow orders given to him by Yuna during battle. Instead Yojimbo will only attack an enemy after being "paid" certain amount money by Yuna. In fact he will only use his stronger, more deadly attacks after being paid excessively large sums of money. Yojimbo has no overdrive attacks, but does have an incredibly strong special attack called Zanmato, which can kill almost any enemy instantly (although his chances of using it are incredibly low). He also has throwing knives and a dog that he can use in special called kozuka and Daigoro respectively.
Anima is arguably the strongest summon in FF10 and has specific ties to the games main antagonist. Her special attack, pain, deals a high amount of damage and instantly kills all enemies not immune to the instant death status effect. Her overdrive attack is oblivion, where she will pull an enemy into another dimension and pummel them with a series of explosive punches.
The Magnus sisters are comprised of three different sisters, named Cindy, sandy and Mindy who take the shape of a ladybug, praying mantis and a bee. Cindy excels in white magic spells and can use two powerful physical attacks called ultima and camisade. Mindy focuses on black magic attacks, and can use a physical attack called passado. Finally sandy focuses on white magic and can use a powerful physical attack called Razzia. The Magnus sister have one singular overdrive attack called delta attack, where they will trap an enemy in a prism of energy and combine their power to produce a massive explosion that obliterate the enemy inside. Unfortunately each sister must individually charge for the overdrive attack to work. The Magnus sister do not follow direct orders, and only do things based on what Yuna "suggest" they do.

To be honest a verdict for this fight is incredibly hard to pin down, given that the "canon" abilities and summoning styles for both characters is fairly ambiguous, but after looking at the facts I think I have reasonable conclusion to how the fight could proceed. In my opinion, Sheena’s slight numbers advantage and more versatile method of summoning could ultimately turn the tide of the battle in her favor. If Yuna tries to fully summons her aeon’s one at a time, she will get overwhelmed by Sheena’s multiple summons. If Yuna tries to fight by partially summoning her aeons, she would still get overwhelmed in a similar manner. on the off chance that Yuna can summon all her aeons at the same time(which I’m not sure she can), Sheena would still have 2 more summons than her, eventually leading to a disadvantages 3 on 1 scenario. Add in the fact that Yuna's aeons can't use their most powerful attacks without charging time(overdrive attacks) or without being externally powered by Yuna herself, its becomes obvious that Sheena has the advantage. The problem is just worsened by the fact that aeveral off Yuna's summons don't follow her orders.
so i should explain how i interpreted both of their abilities, since obviously both characters needed a fair amount of interpretation. If you have ever played the game tales of symphonia, you may be aware that Sheena could only summon when she entered"overlimit mode". This "overlimit mode" could not be accessed normally by the player, and only lasted short periods of time (limiting how often Sheena could summon). More than that when Sheena summoned in tales of symphonia, her summons only appeared for several seconds and only performed a scripted sequence of attacks. while I can understand why some people could consider this the "canon" way Sheena summons work, I found conflicting evidence that implies that it is not .For example, during the story of the Tales of symphonia, Sheena often used summon spirits at a moment’s notice (to gather energy, and save her friends from drowning) and even summon more than one on several occasions. This evidence Cleary shows that she can canonically summon them at any time, despite the limitations placed on the player in battle. I also included all the abilities Sheena's summons used during their boss fights, since logically they would be limited to their scripted attacks in a real fight.
Now with Yuna I decided to be pretty generous and allowed her to keep most of her abilities throughout all 3 of her major appearances. I allowed her to keep all of the spells that were within her sphere grid in ff10 (but no one else’s for obvious reasons) and acknowledged both of her different summoning styles (which I referred to as fully summoning and partially summoning). For equipment I decided to allow her one piece of armor from ff10 and two accessories from ff10-2. Lastly her weapons were taken from both ff10-2 and disidea 12.
Finally both characters were given their entire optional summons, since personally I did not see any harm in it.
