Disney announces Wreck-it Ralph’s DVD and Blu-ray release date

1/3/13 6:20pm

Disney Animation has announced the DVD and Blu-ray release date for it’s love letter to gaming and what is considered to be one of the best films of 2012, Wreck-it Ralph.

The film will be released both formats on March 5. However, HD Digital and HD Digital 3D versions will be available about a month earlier on February 12, through various providers.

As far as special features go, the DVD and Blu-ray packages have the standard deleted scenes, director commentary, and making of features, along with the animated short Paperman, and "commercials" for the games that exist in the film’s universe.

Those picking up Wreck-it Ralph on Blu-ray will be treated to the exclusive “Gamer’s Guide to “Wreck-It-Ralph” extra, which will pause the film at specific intervals to show one of 10 specific videos explaining the film’s many video game references.

The standard DVD release will set you back about $30, while the 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (which includes a DVD copy) will cost closer to $40. However, if you want to go all out with the 4-Disc Blu-ray combo pack (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) will cost you $50. The price of the Digital On Demand versions will vary depending on the provider.

This is good news for not only those who love the film but also for those (sigh. Like me) who somehow managed to miss it while it was theaters.

Seriously, you have no idea how happy this makes me. I’m really excited to finally have a second chance to see it. I hope it’s as good as everyone has been telling me.

For a second there I thought I read HD DVD.... I was thinking people still have those? Oh well I'll probably rent it to see if it's good or not. (living in Quebec has it's disadvantages, like French movies..... and only blockbuster movies get English releases.)

I guess Disney has to recover from the "lead balloon" that the licensed game turned out to be somehow. XP

You wanna know whats "fucking insane" this movie still hasn't shown up in theaters in the UK till feburay 2013.

There should be a fucking law against putting huge delays like this.

I've almost forgoten about wreck it ralph because the fucking film still hasn't been shown here in the UK yet.

Me and my friends were so furiously angry were not gonna bother paying for the film. Way to kill our hype on what would have been a great film.

I already pre-ordered this from Amazon. They had a $5 coupon so it ended up being $30 for the 4 Disc Edition. To all UK people out their be glad that with Disney movies you are not subject to the Disney Vault.

I thought the Disney vault system was used world wide ? Disney UK just sells the movies always then ?
