DMC DLC confirmed and it looks like Dante's brother is back in the mix

tl;dr

DLC detailing Vergil's story coming alongside the game.

Those of you that have played the previous installments of the Devil May Cry series, may well be in for treat. A potentially time bending, chronological nightmare of a treat, but a treat nonetheless. Capcom is rolling out the DLC early this time around, bringing us "Vergil's Downfall", said to be a "brand new chapter of the DmC Devil May Cry adventure". As of yet there have been no details about the DLC's plot line, but the observant fan may draw some confusing conclusions. For more on that, read the spoilers and community feedback starred (*like this*) below.

All we know is that it tells the untold story of Dante's twin brother Vergil. It will include 4 difficulty levels and hours of new gameplay, weapons, combos, enemies and locations. Vergil’s Downfall will be available shortly after launch for 720 MS points and €8.99 / £7.29 on PlayStation Network. Keep your eyes open and look out for more details coming soon regarding the European pre-order initiatives. DmC (Devil May Cry) arrives on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on the 15th January across North America and Europe, with a PC version shortly after.

*Potential Spoilers and Community feedback*

Thus far, as you would expect, the internet and the fans are divided. So here are my thoughts. The trailer clearly depicts Vergil with his hair down over his eyes, last seen in Devil May Cry 3, in which he does battle with Dante. As you know, Vergil remains in hell to fight the demon king Mundus so he can claim Hell as his own domain. Vergil is defeated and enslaved as the armoured warrior "Nelo Angelo".

Now, given the fact that in the trailer Vergil is fighting with a style and weapon set very similar to DMC3, and in the same attire as DMC3, it's not unreasonable to think that this is DLC in which we follow the story of "Vergils Downfall", ie: His decent into a near mind wiped slave state. But this all takes place in the DMC3 Cannon, not that of the reboot. Supposition? Or legitimate reasoning? The comment section is for you let us here your thoughts!

Crapcom is behind this. Therefore, I'm obligated not to care. My prediction is that this-- in keeping with Capcom's new-found tradition of screwing their customers-- is probably already on the disc.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT! if you look at the achievement list for the game it has an achievement that comes after beating mundus that says "defeat Vergil on any difficulty". With Vergil "on the good side" in the trailers it may be inferred that he is broken by Mundus or has his own agenda through the entire game. Either way, the two will come to blows inevitably.

If this is new canon for the reboot, perhaps this will show us why he was so eager to get a hold of the power he sought in the other canon of DMC3.

At any rate, be grateful it's DLC and not a separate game like DMC3 Special Edition or Dead Rising 2: Off the Record or Street Fighter IV or MvC3. I'm not trying to justify Capcom's actions I'm just saying it could be a whole lot worse

that's not his dmc3 attire, that is the cowboy stuff he wears in the reboot, his dmc3 attire was the blue trench coat with the armored top underneath. plus in the Vergil reveal trailer he has Yamato, so it's not a stretch that he kept some of the more iconic moves he did with it in 3/1/UMVC3. To me it seem's either they're rehashing his turn to evil in the main game, and has this set following the unseen battle against mundus' army in hell after dmc3. Or he dies at some point in the game, good or evil, and does the exact same thing but modified slightly if they leave him good. Vergil's my fave character from the series (and dmc is my favorite game series) so i'm not angry about this dlc, i just hope they don't rehash his storylines entirely from 3, 1 and 4.

Does anyone else think that Capcom is counting their chickens before they hatch? I mean first they placed Don'te in Playstation All-Stars, and now they're making dlc for a game that's not even out yet.
