The Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection has been confirmed for a NA release
About a week after an HD collection containing Dragon Ball Z Budokai’s 1 and 3 was revealed for a Japanese and European release, Namco Bandai has confirmed that Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD will also be released in North America sometime this winter.
As someone who loved DBZ but didn’t have the chance to play the original games, I’m pretty excited about this collection and I can’t wait too fire off some “Special Beam Canons, Galick Guns, and Kamehamehas and of course I have to kick some ass as The Great Saiyaman!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to train at 1X Earth’s normal gravity … what? You have to know your limits!
Oh, definitely. There are worse. I've never played Silent Hill, although I got the original on PS1 from Plus, but still haven't played it. I was tempted to get the HD collection and play the lot. THEN I heard how horrendous it was. I still tire of HD collections, though. They're not even proper HD. Sure, to properly remake them in HD, it'd take a lot more time and effort, and cost a hell of a lot more, but it'd look so much better.
As for the best ones, I think the Sly one is still pretty good, and I quite like the MGS one, too.
Although it is far, far FAR from the worst. Remember the Silent Hill collection? At worst, its the worst Sony-published one.
Yeah, there are heaps. Actually, if you go to Insomniac's Facebook page, there's a guy who points them all out.
I've only played the first game so far, but I noticed lots of texture popping. Big Al, for example, has textures that overlap. His body shows through his lab coat sometimes, and his flesh shows through the middle of his tongue. That's just one example. I believe the Gadgebots are also a lot more haywire than usual, as I had all number of weird glitches happen with them. Oh, and the vendors and weapon/gadget graphics are often all squished up. That one is so off-putting whenever I go to a vendor.
Like I said, I've only played the first one so far, but if that guy is correct (and I have no reason to believe he isn't), those are kinda nasty. Not game-breaking bad, but just downright disappointing.
Glitches? Really? I didn't find a single one in the R & C Collection.
Anyway, apparently you're right, all three of the games were already on the 360.
Oh, is it? I'm pretty sure my brother bought Legends on Xbox 360 though. Hmm, actually, it IS Underworld that I got from Plus. But I think both are on the disc anyway. I'll get around to playing it sometime. I'm sure it can't be worse than the Ratchet and Clank HD collection. Idol Minds shat all over that with awful glitches.
No, I think Underworld is the current gen one, Legends was last gen. That said Legends still wasn't that great.
That doesn't mean they shouldn't include Budokai 2. I didn't like Budokai 1 much anyway. Budokai 3 was much better. Tenkaichi was fine. I don't know what your big problem is with it. Granted, Tenkaichi 2 had a far superior story mode than 3, but they were still good games, and focusing purely on the gameplay (and multiplayer), Tenkaichi 3 kicked ass, as well as having multiplayer in the Wii version and disc bonuses for the previous two Tenkaichi games if you had the PS2 version. Imagine combining both of those extras together for a PS3 port. That'd be epic.
Fair enough. I honestly haven't kept up with the Tomb Raider games. I own the HD collection but haven't played it yet. But yeah, Legend is a current gen one, which I also got with Playstation Plus, so it seems kind of pointless.
I call bullshit on the TOmb Raider thing for two reasons - one, the games in the collection were not as well recieved as the quality of other games (I mean, look at the lit of games that have been HD-ified. Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Jak and Daxter, Tomb Raider Anniversary. Yeah, one of these things is not like the other.
The second is that one of the games is already an HD Current Gen game.
Budokai 1 is what started it all, plus that game had the best cut scenes in any DBZ game. The cut scenes in Tenkaichi series are god awful. And of course for the last reason, nostalgia .
They should world on making Dragonball Online available to the whole world, or just make an awesome DBZ-RPG!
No one is going to need this once Budokai 4 comes out next year anyway. Pointless HD collection is pointless.
I don't know if I can agree on Tomb Raider, but DBZ, definitely. There is a limit to what they can do with HD re-releases before they become pointless, and this has crossed that line. Things like Ratchet & Clank, Sly, Jak & Daxter, and even Metal Gear Solid, they work well as HD collections. Some things do not. Case in point - Dragon Ball Z.
I love DBZ as well, but I have to agree with you. Each one got progressively better, but I think if any of them deserves an HD re-release, it'd be Budokai 3.
Why even include the first one? It's just a crappier game. What about Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi 2 or 3? You know, two different styles of gameplay. But apparently it's easier just to waste time porting an obsolete game. I'm also still wondering why the omitted Budokai 2. It seems silly to include 1 and 3 but not 2.
Now, as much as I like DBZ, I won't be buying this (although if Budokai 3 is sold separately on PSN, I might budge). There are some DBZ games that are just terrible. I think the Burst Limit games are pretty bad, the Raging Blast games, whilst fun, have a lot of flaws, and I don't even want to TOUCH Ultimate Tenkaichi. Now they're making Budokai 4. God only knows if they'll ever make a GOOD DBZ game again.
I think I should go buy DBZ on Super Famicom..... Those old, 2D DBZ games are surprisingly fun. And pretty crappy, too. But no worse than a pointless HD collection of PS2 games.
Am I the only one who thinks that these games are pointless because all they are doing is re-releasing the same game, over and over again. I love DragonBall Z incase people think I am a hater.
Ohh yea, news to my ears! Had the 1st two but it'd be great to see play these games all over again in HD.
O_O...Why did it take Namco Bandai this long to confirm the US Release for this collection? It's not their RPGs it's DBZ, one of their money giving franchises
See, this is probably the point where the HD collection thing has gone too far. I thought the Tomb Raider thin was bad, but this? Come on, man, this is just ridiculous.
I know that feeling I had a gamecube so I was only able to get the first one which was like damn, and then number 2 was amazing. Sadly 3 had to be the exclusive one, but I picked up it years later and I love it.
Budokai 3 is by far the best in the whole franchise. Perfect visuals, covers all of DBZ, power struggles, traditional 2.5-demnsional combat, etc. A shame I missed it last gen because it was PS2 exclusive. I'll definitely be picking this up!
