EA to shut down online severs for certain games

If there's anything about this gen it's that most if not all games have something online. When their severs shut down, most become pretty much worthless and this happens a lot with EA games. Here's a list of EA games that are going offline.

On January 11 you won't be able to play these game online anymore:

FIFA Soccer 11
FIFA Soccer 11 Ultimate Team
Madden 11 and its Ultimate Team
NBA Jam
NBA Live 10
NCAA 11
NHL 11
NHL 11 Ultimate Team

and on January 14:

Sims 2
Trenches 2 (iOS)

Sports games really don't last long, do they? This makes me wonder what will happen to all the games this gen when their severs go offline.

Sweet, as I just got NBA Jam off PSN yesterday, it only makes sense that I won't be able to play it online. You people truly disgust me

This is the short-sighted nature of games designed for online play. For the PC, the model makes more sense, because those don't ever really get replaced, just upgraded. But with console cycles, this is always going to happen.

Yeah, NBA Jam doesn't deserve to lose online, even though the game is better with friends in the same room.

EA did this not too long ago, and people flipped because of the fact that servers that required online passes were shut down. I dont know how many of these games have online passes, but I know the sports ones do. That being said, if you paid for an online pass for madden 11, you have madden 13 already
