Ed Boon teases Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter is in negotiations

Editor's Note: I wish this was a thing....

Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter might be in the works. Ed Boon posted a tweet about a meeting one of Capcom's staff, Seth Killian, to discuss about a crossover of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

"Yes, great catching up with you too. Looking forward to our first Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter meeting. First order of business: MKvsSF or SFvsMK. ;)"

It's possible that Ed Boon is trolling, but this year is not only Mortal Kombat's 20th anniversary, but also Street Fighter's 25th anniversary. Even Yoshinori Ono thought it is possible to make the crossover, but it's really hard to pull it off, like a head being decapiated. What are your thoughts, guys? Will it be a dream come true and will this work?

just give me a M rated fighter with my two favorite fighting games and we can call it a day and bought on day one. the new MK was fantastic and I only bought it once. SF4 is great but come on how many ver are there now? and I think it speaks for itself this cross over bridges north american gamers with japanese gamers like never before. sick shit if this is true.

I think it'll work for Street Fighter fans, but I have a hunch MK loyalists will be disappointed. MK is a little more sluggish (for lack of a more accurate word) in its play style, and I don't know if the more "technical" aspects of either game will carry over well to the other. I'm sure that the game's going to turn out well, but at the same time the speculation and scrutiny on this idea is pretty warranted, since it runs the risk of discarding something from one side of each roster -- then again, that's the nature of the beast with crossovers. All I know for sure right now is that I'm definitely intrigued.

You know what I think this game should have if it were to be made? It should look like MK at it's core, but have some kind of "filter" you could turn on to make those awesome SFIV visual effects show up over everything, and it should allow you to set how much blood you wanted in the game, from usual MK levels to none, and everything inbetween, and finally an option that allows you to turn Fatalities on an off. This way, the player would be able to choose just how much from each universe they wanted in their game.
