Elder Scrolls Online is being developed by ZeniMax Online
Bethesda Softworks announced that they are working with ZeniMax Online to create the long rumored Elder Scrolls MMO. Planned to be a part of the Game Informer cover reveal this June, The Elder Scrolls Online is bringing the universe to MMO players around the world. The team is being lead by Matt Firor who has building online games for the past 20 years. Here is what he had to say about the recent announcement
Expect more info once Game Informer hits newsstands early this summer.
as long as it's real skyrim fighting and not warcraft style click and watch I will definitely pick this up.
I will now throw my hat into the mmo arena and play the shit out of this game
i like this, setting the entire backstory for elderscrolls with an MMO, it seems like from what it said that the game is gonna take place during the time before the first true emperor when molag bol first tried to unleash oblivion on tamriel, prety much the entier back story for oblivion and all the novels in game
I am sooo excited for this! Can't wait to find out more about it :D
How about just Co-op with up to 4 people. I don't want a whole mmo. Think about how much more hours of gameplay out of Skyrim if there had been co-op alongside with some harder enemies/quest
That's a bold statement, but if anyone can deliver it's the Elder Scroll series.
I cannot wait to play it. Bethesda is my favorite game company + i always wanted elder scrolls t be online, can't wait to see what it will be like. (just imagine all the mass chaos that would ensue, but i think they would probably tone down the amount of Op you can be, but then again, who knows)
I used to play MMOs ...... sad story, really.
No, after a few levels and a story arc, all MMOs just become fetch quests and grinding. I've always preferred linear RPGs. You can talk to someone and say, "Remember that time in [this game] when ....... ?"
Instead, with games today, it's just, "ding grats".
That's what we thought about James Cameron and Avatar...... then we saw Avatar and now I want those 3 hours of my life back
meh. just meh.
Several years in development? This might be good...
I dis..........uh.......I app........uh.............I don't know how to feel about this. There's no conventional way to play the currently way the Elder Scroll (or Fallout for that matter) games are online. I am curios as I am skeptical about how this thing is going to play.
Considering the domain name was registered shortly after Oblivion came out in 2006, this has been a long time coming.
A skyrim expansion and an MMO, Bethesda, you spoil us.
Hopefully, this will live up to the high standards that Bethesda has set. Seeing all of the MMO's that have called themselves WoW killers, and then have failed makes me a little doubtful.
This will be interesting to see, but I'm not confident about it. Not yet, at least.
I'm enthralled to say the least.
Good strategy of releasing a standalone RPG title and an MMO. You don't upset fans who want a single-player experience while also answering the calls for those who want multiplayer.
