Anonymous source tells all for "Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale"
Update: Leak has been confirmed as legitimate by PlayStation Blog.
There has been speculation abound regarding the roster for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, but after the most recent rumor leaked, we received an anonymous tip from a reliable source regarding what is actually in the game. The roster list which leaked has been corroberated as our source says the following characters are in the build they have seen.
- Kratos
- Parappa the Rappa
- Fat Princess
- Sweet Tooth
- Radec
- Sly Cooper
- Nathan Drake
- Cole
- Ratchet
- Jak
- Evil Cole
- Big Daddy
- Dante
- Heihachi
- Nariko
- Raiden (MGS)
- Sackboy
- Sir Daniel
- Spike
- Toro
Keep in mind this is not a complete list of the final roster, only what has been seen. Sadly there is no Crash currently listed, but there is speculation from our source that the DLC characters could include: “Cloud Strife, Sora, Alex Mercer”, Minamoto Yoshitsune, or even a Soul Calibur character. Additional levels have been confirmed by the source as well and the full list includes:
- "Columbia" (BioShock Infinite)
- "Alden's Tower" (Infamous)
- "Invasion" (Killzone)
- "Sandover Village" (Jak and Daxter)
- "Paris" (Sly Cooper)
- "Black Rock Stadium" (Twisted Metal)
- "Hades" (God Of War)
- "San Francisco" (Resistance)
- "Metropolis" (Ratchet and Clank)
- "Dojo" (Parappa)
- "Stowaways" (Uncharted)
The last thing that blew our mind was how far off the rumor was regarding modes in the game. According to our source “there is no king of the hill, there is no capture the flag implemented yet nor have I heard talk of anything like that… LAN games were removed due to the amount of bugs submitted for it, no free roam as far as I have seen… And the Challenge, General and Character trials are being removed in order to be made into DLC”.
The best part is though, that the boss character has been revealed as none other than the Playstation One era Purple Polygon Man! Now that’s what I am talking about! So there you have it. We will not be 100% sure on any of this information until we see a response from Sony, but in the meantime, does this sound reasonable?

Crash and Spyro would be awesome, but we have to realize that they don't belong to Sony anymore. Just like how we don't see Banjo on a Smash Brothers game.

As much as I'd like to see other characters on the roster from generation 1 playstation, 20 characters (I know they have 2 Coles) is pretty damn good for a first outing. Remember, Smash Bros didn't hit its stride until Melee, and many seem to have the opinion that MVC2 is the best of the Capcom Vs series (however many games into the series that may be).
I don't care that it's 2012 and that was before. Development time is longer, development cost is exponentially higher, and they have to be able to make a profit. As much as we all hate it, gaming is a business. If they can give us a finished product now ("finished" being the key word, we're all looking at you MVC3), giving us all a chance to play it, and in a few years put out another title with an even bigger roster of characters, more unlockables, more stages, just more to enjoy, I'll gladly get it then as well.

Sadly, I missed out during the PS1 era. So who is the Purple Polygon Man, and what game is he from? Also, I'm glad Nariko will be in this. I love Heavenly Sword as it was the game that swayed me into getting a PS3.
