Developer Mane6's fighter project Fighting is Magic will seek crowdfunding this year.
According to a blog post, the crowdfunding effort is planned to bring the Fighting is Magic project to life after several setbacks. Fighting is Magic is not set to be the game's official title – especially after Mane6's legal shutdown from Habro for use of My Little Pony characters and likenesses.
If successful the crowdfunding will allow the development team to pay their bills and work on the project full time. It will also pay for necessary upgrades to make the game smoother and ensure a better multiplayer experience with the GGPO netcode.
The development team has learned how to effectively use Lab Zero Games' Z-Engine, the same engine used to create Skullgirls. Mane6 obtained the engine when Lab Zero's crowdfunding campaign was successful.
Mane6's crowdfunding project will begin sometime in the first quarter of this year.
While the project may not be called Fighting is Magic at the end, those who believe in the project will crowdfund it nonetheless. Those who believe in crowdfunding often believe in helping the little guy make it to the top.
