A few details regarding the recently announced South Park: The Game have hit the net today, and it looks like the game is shaping up nicely. It will be based on the Dungeon Siege 3 engine and feature turn-based battles similar to the Mario & Luigi RPG games in what we can assume will be 2D environments. There will also be weapons to pick up and Summons to...um, summon I guess.
You will take the role of a silent protagonist and get to pick between 5 different classes: Paladin, Wizard, Adventurer, Rogue and an "unconventional" class made up by - who else? - Cartman. I guess it's safe to say then that the game will be inspired by the TV Episode The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers and will nail the anything-goes kind of humor the show is known for.
On your quest you'll have to make friends with the other kids of South Park as well as various factions. You can keep track of all this on your smartphone, which will act as the game's menu system. Another thing to keep an eye on are the the various collectibles that have been promised, like Chinpokomon dolls. I hope they include Shoe, as he's the coolest. When you're not making friends or doing quests, you can explore the town of South Park at your leisure.
And that's about it for the first slew of information. What do you guys think? Are you excited? Worried? Do you think your Pengin could beat my Shoe? (it obviously couldn't.) Sound off in the comments below!
