The First Expansion Announced for Star Wars: The Old Republic
Bioware has announced the first expansion to their MMO Star Wars the Old Republic. The expansion will be a digital release only and will be priced at $19.99, however subscribers can pick it up at a 50% discount ($9.99).
Along with the announcement, we got a look at a few key features to the expansion.

You can expect Rise of the Hutt Cartel to release in Spring of 2013 and Bioware promises to have more information soon. This is something that the game has been desperately in need of for a while... to be honest, it probably should have released about 6 months ago. Case in point, the recent transition to free to play.
Hopefully with the expansion boosting sales and player-base my companion will finally stop e-mailing me begging me to come back and play. Is the announcement enough to make you want to go back and play / continue paying?

This was a good news. I took to the story content, it was the most fun they'd had leveling in any MMO up to that point. - Brenda Lee Reed

I'm actually enjoying swtor a lot. I am by no means a dedicated player who puts in hours a day, but the compelling storytelling and use of certain quest hubs makes sure this doesn't feel like a grind all too much. Throw in some friends for some flashpoints and it's even more fun. This expansion should have come sooner, but then again, I wonder how much it'll affect the ftp players, if they get to that high level. I subscribed to them because it unlocks the full experience, and the free-to-play version feels way too limited and a lot more grind-like.

That planets got to have a LOT of stuff to do if it's going to be worth that sum of money.

well as of right now, your average end planet has about 3 levels of content on it. If there is enough to have 5 levels on one planet, then that is a big increase

Downside is I've heard the story expansion will be planet story only, not class story.

Awesome, good for Bioware. I hope it brings them some business.
