First images of Thief 4 sneak on to the net

With the lauded release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, it's been long-anticipated that Eidos Montréal's other prominent project - the elusive fourth entry in the Thief franchise - would at last see a proper content reveal. While EM has remained quieter than Garrett himself on the subject has, it appears the first images of the game have leaked of their own accord.

Marlon Dean, a storyboard artist currently under the employ of Goldtooth (the same studio that produced the cutscenes for Deus Ex: Human Revolution) released four pages of storyboard images depicting a cloaked figure engaging in one of the series' trademark kleptomaniac interludes. To cut the expository pomp short, here are the images in question:

The images have already drawn the attention of both the Thief 4 and TTLG forums, and were in fact discovered by said communities. The Thief community is known for its dedication, and needless to say these images have already been heavily dissected by both forums. Particularly since they seem to correspond stylistically with an image that Eidos Montréal hung on the elevator doors at the PAX convention center last year:

I'm confused, I've heard bits about Thief 4, but I still don't have any idea what Thief 4 is about, or what the other three where about.

The first three games were about a master thief operating in a victorian/steampunk/medieval fantasy world, in a nameless place simply called The City. Along with Metal Gear Solid and Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, the Thief series formalized what today is known as the Stealth genre. The story basically revolves around three major factions: The Hammerites, (A bit like the Catholic church during the Inquisition) The Pagans, (Worshippers of Nature and Chaos) and the Keepers (They observe and record history, trying to keep the other two factions in balance). Basically the first three games were dedicated to one of the three groups going crazy and trying to destroy the world.

Judging from how Eidos Montreal Handled the Stealth in Human Revolution i think the game is is in Good Fuycking Hands! Awesome to see you posting on here again Razor.
