Before Fox had his adventure, Krystal was on Dinosaur Planet, and here's the lost footage!
Editor's Note: This looks like it could have been a cool series had Nintendo not interfered with its development and if you know, Rare hadn't been purchased by Microsoft.
What you may not know about Star Fox Adventures (okay on its own, but SUCKS as a Star Fox game) is that before Fox ever set foot on this strange planet, Rare was developing it for the N64 as a game called Dinosaur Planet, before Nintendo made it into Star Fox Adventures due to the realization that Sabre, the main character, was similar to SF protagonist Fox McCloud.
RareMinion.com posted this hour-long previously unreleased video showcasing this lost N64 game:
And for comparison's sake, here's the same scene from Star Fox Adventures:
So, what do you g1s think? If Rare would've continued on with Dinosaur Planet, would you've enjoyed it? And does this story change your opinion about StairFax Temperatures, for better or worse? Write em down below, and don't disappoint General Pepper!

They would have saved a lot of trouble if they kept it in 64 bit. Still, SFA was OK, and I do hope that General Scales does make a return---I thought he looked cool.

I actually liked Star Fox Adventures. So what if it’s different from the other titles? That’s fine with me just as long as the gameplay is stimulating. Just because Star Fox is in the title, doesn’t mean it has to be the same thing over and over again.

I really liked a lot of things about Starfox Adventures, but the voice acting was so atrocious, it killed any sense of immersion I had every time it came up. I really wish it had gone the Zelda route and had characteristic grunts/sounds and a silent protagonist. I don't want to spoil any specifics for those who want to play it, but there is one scene in particular that just made me want to barf.

I don't know why so many people dislike adventures. I can understand the whole "But it's not starfox!" bit because it's not like the original starfox flying, but when you think about it many nintendo franchises have had new games with drastically different gameplay. Super mario RPG was drastically different from the original mario platformers. Then you got all the many different pokemon titles. Starfox adventures was the first starfox game I actually played so maybe I am a little biased, but I thought it was amazing. It was legend of zelda but it wasn't it had something that zelda didn't, I spent so many hours playing that game.

I don't think Star Fox Adventures was a bad game at all, sure it borrowed from Ocarina quite a lot but it was by no means a bad game, it was actually pretty good. I also think that it kind of paved the way for the direction Miyamoto will take with the next Star Fox game (I believe there will be one). He'll probably have a lot of rail shooting as everyone wants and will have on-foot missions as well similar to Assault (which had one of the best multiplayer experiences in the Gamecube). I'm also thinking that if both Adventures and Assault were both just rail shooters similar to 64, people would just be shouting "rehash!" at every single turn. I think Nintendo did a good thing with both games. Also Adventures' music is pretty damn good.

I liked the JonTron reference at the end XD. Knowing Rare, it probably would have been good.

It might have fared better as an obscure new IP on N64 and reached a cult status today, but I don't think it would have actually been any better, granted it wouldn't have ruined starfox

Some people seem really offended by Star Fox Adventures. I can't really see why. The game was exciting and pretty funny. I think what really is a shame though is that Star Fox is fading into obscurity now.
