This is your g1 Spotlight for the week, I am your host, the sexy, the smart and the beloved g1...The Stickman! I KNOW, RIGHT? Been a few months since I did one of these, so I'll try not to mess it up too much...although that usually is my main goal. The second goal being to say as many awful things as possible, and the third being to provide you with the best g1 blogs, videos, music and arts from the past week! ...except mine. WOOO!!

First up, it's time FO some MUSIC.

 

First up we have the always fabulous g1 JamesRonald with yet another badass remix, this time it's Scott Pilgrim meets Anamanaguchi, what could possibly go wrong? Nothing as it turns out.

 

Next up we've got Unaware Steve himself, Bradley James with his new E.P entitled "Where did I go?". I don't know where you went, perhaps it was Califooornniiiaa.......either way, it's good well done.

The above, rather badass Darksiders 2 fan-art is courtesy of g1 RobbieNate in a rather nice tribute to the (seemingly) recently deceased THQ franchise. You can pay your respects by going over to Nate's blog and checking out the rest of the awesome arts they've done. Seriously, I likem that Darksiders art, very sexy indeed.

Jetzing off the Forecast.

g1 JETZ.acx has announced he's stepping down from his duties on the g1 Digital Forecast, which is a shame. Go here and thank him for the year or so he's provided editing and coordination for the g1 made version of the old ScrewAttack show.

g1 Odakicity wants you to help him cheat on his homework! DUN DUN DUUUUN!!! Well, that's not what he said exactly, what he wants is your opinions of the recently obsoleted Nintendo console...the Wii. So hop on over there, read what he wants, and LET HIM HAVE IT.

Contrary to what I believe, this isn't about taking a piss, it's actually about g1 live streamers (Sounds filthy to me). g1 Johnny Chase is looking to compile a list of you guys that do gaming live on the interwebs for all to see, so make sure to register if you do that. Just don't fall alseep, or forget to turn the camera off before doing the dirty deed.

This week on ScrewAttack was just weird...

The first guests for SGC were announced.

Nick, Ben, and Sam brought shame upon themselves by getting their butts kicked in APEX. Also Nick got an epic hug from DYLAN TOOMEY!

 

Also perhaps one of the weirdest Screwin Arounds ever........ Apparently Craig found some sort of cloning machine, then fell in love with his clone or something... IDK I just don't know.

 

Time to get down to bizzyness with the good old Spotlight. Dancing zebras, robots eating children, hamburgers that can travel through time, WE'VE GOT IT ALL HERE...cept those three things. Enjoy!

 

Oh no, NOT THIS GAME AGAIN.

It seems that every time I do the spotlight, Chrono Trigger pops up at least once. IS IT REALLY THAT GOOD? IT'S GOT A FROG WITH A SWORD IN IT, THAT'S ABOUT IT. g1 E-Dog thinks otherwise, and he's gone and made a review to prove it, good for him. Please address all angry comments about my opinion of Chrono Trigger to Woodyman. Thank you.

 

Y'know who the deadliest creature of all is? No, NOT MAN, ME.

Ahh...Deadliest Creatures, you're one of those games that was always on my "to buy" list, but never high enough to actually be bought. Y'know, that kinda game that got pretty good reviews, looked alright, but came out at a time when there were better options in store and you just ended up forgetting about it. g1 -Mazer thinks you're a douchebag for doing that, he said so himself...you probably didn't hear him, it was noisy that day. He also wrote a review explaining why, so you should check that out.

 

Have you ever heard the story of the Scorpion and the Frog?

I do love me some Drive, the little cult film that could...not get recognition from the old farts at the Oscars. HEY, NEVERMIND, EH? It's obviously good enough to inspired some Indie developers, as the recent downloadble game Hotline Miami takes heavy inspiration from everyone's favourite silent movie. g1 Mcgunn done gone made a review of the game, so you should watch that.

EVERYONE LOVES RUSTY.

L.A Noire was one of 2011's most interesting titles, not everyone liked it, and its sorta slipped out of the minds of gamers since its release in a year where we got Skyrim, Skyward Sword and Dead Space 2. Tis a shame because it was a lot of fun. g1 jduckky007 has provided us with a video review of the game, does he agree with me or did he hate it? I DON'T KNOW...SUPPOSE YOU SHOULD WATCH THE VIDEO AND FIIIND OUT...y'know.

 

WINDOOWS ARE OUR SPECIALITY.

I can't admit to having heard of Matilda Castle, when I was a kid, my PC game staples were things like Worms, Lego Island and Tomb Raider...also, the Blue Screen of Death, that game wasn't very fun and was far too easy to beat. g1 nomed89 knows about Matilda Castle...is it about the Matilda from that shitty adaptation of a good book? FIND OUT HERE IN HIS REVIEW.

 

Trying to steal thunder from my upcoming review? THAT'S A BAD KITTAY!

Super Meat Boy is a game where you die...a lot...like...forever, by the end of World 1 you'll have most likely died a higher number of times than there are levels in the game. That said, it's a lot of fun, g1 bigjoe91 has provided us with his different review, he's going to be punished for doing so.

Sometimes, it seems Craig goes out of his way to piss off as many people as humanly possible, kinda like myself actually, cept I don't wear a hat, I wear a Gimp Suit, it's much better. g1 TheSwedishGamer has compiled together a list of the 7 most inappropiate things Craig said on Sidescrollers over 2012. SHOULD BE A HOOT.

We all love a good gaming villain, don't we? We also love a good hero, but there are some characters who just don't know whether they want to be good or bad, or just a little on both sides of the spectrum, we call these guys ...Flipfloppers. g1 Zodia195 has flipped flopped around trying to find the best flipflops about...AND NO I DON'T MEAN THE SHOES, AHAHAHAHAHAH HOHOHOHO ...ahhh...I mean game characters, weren't you paying attention? God damnit...just...just go read it...

 

Anime? That's for NERDS.

I don't get anime, not my forte. That said, there's a rather large fanbase of people who do get it, or at least get OFF on it! SHAZZAM...I...sorry. g1 ParadiseandFaries has compiled a list of 15 anime's you apparently owe it to yourself to watch, and once you get past Blip.tv's terrible adverts you can find out what they are! Here's a fun game for you, take a drink every time you see cat ears, maid outfits, or underaged girls in inappropriate situations.

Pro-Tip : Edges of Mirrors are sharp, don't run on them.

I wasn't all that fussed on Mirror's Edge, the concept was solid, as were the visuals, but the gameplay was often frustrating and hard to understand at times. THAT SAID, Mirror's Edge seems to be a game a lot of people want to see a sequel for...even if it is made by EA, and will be turned into a co-op bro shooter THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME THAT CAME BEFORE IT AND ONLY IS THAT WAY TO MAKE MORE MONEY......*ahem* where was I? Oh yes, g1 javiGoN has made a video about the game, so you should check that out.

I ran over a frog once, it was my forte. LOLJ/KIDON'THAVEACAR.

Did you know there was a sequel to Frogger? Y'know, that game where you have to cross a road without getting splattered? APPARENTLY THERE WAS, proving once and for all that games are as bad as horror films when it comes to pointless  sequels. g1 glitboy seems to like it though, check out his video on it here.

 

I don't know what this is.

Sadly, despite giving a platform for many g1 blogs and videos to get viewers and attention, it's impossible for me, the writer to read and watch every single g1 produced...thing. Often, the name of the blog/video will provide hints as to what the basic theme is, which I can then make bad jokes and swear a lot over. g1 MetalJesusRocks is talking about 30 games on 12 systems...and some vinyl records...it's a collection...I don't know what that means, but it's probably good so you should watch it. Yes.

 

WHY DO PEOPLE PLAY GAMES THAT ARE DESIGNED TO BE IMPOSSIBLE.

I don't know about you guys and gals, but if a game has a reputation for being stupidly hard or even impossible, that doesn't really make me want to play it. Whereas some people seem to think that makes it really good, I DISAGREE. g1 SmoshGames, who is either the guys at Smosh making an account on ScrewAttack, or a fan pretending to be them, have posted a video of them attempting to beat the first boss of Dark Souls. OKAY.

I've never played or seen an Intellivision in the flesh before, that said I know all about it thanks to Mr Rolfe and his wonderful internet series. g1 HistoricNerd seeks to further educate us about the world of Intellivision and B-17 Bomber from MATTEL ELECTRONICS. Good luck with that.

I don't know much about Fire Emblem, it's a franchise based around a genre that I have no interest in whatsoever, and as such have never played any of the titles. g1 CaztheGamerGuy seems to like it well enough though, because he's just reached the half-way point in his Fire Emblem retrospective, so check that out if you're into that sorta shiiiiiit.

Well apparently, Chelsi from Couple Game does because she wants to eat SANTA CLAUS' NOSE! What a sick individual (can you tell Woodyman wrote this one?) It's cannibalism on Couple Gaming Highlights

I honestly don't know what to expect from this podcast, it could be a terrible mistake sending you to it. The name makes no sense (Hey Poor Podcast), the title is gibberish (Open-Source Torso Mayhem : Hyper Fighting) and just what the hell is Steam? SOUNDS DANGEROUS TO ME. You can check out g1 Marulu's podcast if you so wish but...do be warned....IT MIGHT EAT YOUR SOUL OR TURN YOU INTO A WALRUS. OH FUCK.

 

 

We don't need a new Mario Kart, we just need Dry-Bones playable character in Mario Kart 7! 

So, earlier this week Nintendo announced a bunch of obvious sequels and a pointless HD remake, AND EVERYBODY WENT CRAZY FOR THAT SHIT. A NEW MARIO GAME? WOOOOAAHHH. A NEW ZELDA GAME?! I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!? MARIO KART 8!? STOP...THE...PRESSES...Well, that's my take on the whole thing anyway, sadly, they will probably all be great, and g1 eCockpit89 is already looking ahead to Mario Kart U and suggesting ways it could suck less ass than Mario Kart Wii. 

 

YOU CAN TAKE THE OSCARS AND SHOVE THEM 

As much as the Oscars is rapidly becoming less of a way of finding out the best films of each year and more of a way of showing how out of touch the Academy really is these days. That said, we all seem to end up getting excited for each years festivities anyway. g1 Flapperdoodle (who is known for rapping with poodles) has chosen his picks for the winners, as well as the ones that will actually win, and the ones that should have been nominated. In a world where Snow White and the Huntsmen can be Oscar nominated and The Dark Knight Rises or Looper can't...you know you've lost faith in Hollywood.

This generation of consoles has been where the Pre-Owned gaming scene has truly come into its own for better or worse. But just how long do you have to wait for a good price on second hand gaming? And is it just better to wait for the inevitable price-drop on shiny new copies? g1 Jeff AKA Snoopy (Good Grief) gives you the skinny.

After Capcom haters continued to despise DmC even after it got great reviews from critics and people who actually played the game, it's safe to say that nerds on the internet can't be trusted for clarity and balanced opinions. g1 Samuraispartan7000 is taking a look at the infamous Metacritic User Reviews and how they are about as trustworthy as a creepy old man giving away "free candy".

It's safe to say that the launch of the Wii U wasn't quite as exciting or successful as the Wii's back in 2006. But does this mean the start of the end for Nintendo's long and eventful console publishing history? g1 logicallydashing wonders if Nintendo will soon be following Sega in the hellish realm of multi-platform titles and shitty Sonic games.

This week was a busy one for news in the world of Gaming. We got everything from possible PS4 specs to disgustingly degrading collectors editions for shit cash-in games. g1 Cyrax sums it all up for you.

Serious question time... since New ScrewAttack has been up and running for a while now there are less and less reposts from version 4. It's difficult for the writers and researchers to find articles that haven't been in the Time Shift before and are old. Should this section be deleted from the g1 Spotlight altogether or maybe this section should be revamped to be included if and only if we forgot to include something really important from the past week?

In a week where Nintendo has tried to blind us all from its mistakes with vague announcements and Yoshi's made of "yarn", it's fun to look back at their biggest mistake before collaborating with Team Ninja for Metroid Other M.

That's right, the Virtual Boy! That wonderful migrane inducing portal to a hellish red, slightly 3D world never really did catch on, and never really got a whole lot of games either. That said, g1 MegaSilverX1 has found a few Japan-only titles that he'd like to share with you. Are they any good? The answer is probably no, but you can find out for yourself right here!

 

Alright...we're done for another week...I really do feel like I've been a bit of a softey this time around...and when you take into account the jokes that will inevitably get cut from the finished product...I really haven't been rude enough!
